I've currently got
a S&W .22 Target Pistol for target shooting
A Sig Sauer 522 quad rail Swat, that I use for coyote hunting
A 20 Gauge single shot Shotgun (that i have no idea who makes)

Due to the invasions of hogs though i'm going to have to upgrade to a bit larger rifle. I'm thinking a bolt action 270 with a reach out and touch you scope, but i'm still undecided. I know the 522 would work there as well, but I don't want to risk injury and the animal not dieing.

I'm also thinking about getting a Sig Mosquito for a carry (can you tell I like .22 weapons) Though I might break down and get a 9mm.

I will say my favorite gun ever has been this 522... so much fun to hunt/target shoot/plink anything i can shoot it all day and never get tired. And best of all it uses 22 rounds so its cheap (though using CCI mini-mags and Velocitors does make it a bit more expensive than just regular federal bulk ammo)

why would you need a silencer? do you plan on going to afghanistan as a black opp and finding some terrorists without blowing your cover?

basically, silencer fall under classIII laws... all classIII firearms and accessories require a license which is pretty hard, and extremely expensive to get... i know people with top secret military security clearances who couldnt get a classIII license. I'm not sure what the process is, but getting caught with classIII arms and accessories is usually punished to the fullest extent causing you to have a felony on your record, making it nearly impossible for you to even legally own that ruger you want.

Why would someone need a SUPPRESSOR(not a silencer, no possible way to silence a gunshot)? How about, hearing protection? I own 3 suppressors and the all are about the same noise reduction, around 32-36db. That is the same as most hearing protection as in shooting muffs.

In many place countries where firearms are near impossible to own, suppressors are not regulated. After all, they to not fire a projectile. Funny thing is, in some places not only are they not OK, they are required because of noise pollution.

The process is not hard. Check your state laws as they vary. My state for example, suppressors, AOWs and destructive devices are OK but no SBSs, SBRs or full auto. Some free states are all NFA OK. Then buy your item, fill out paperwork. You can do chief LEO signature route or the trust/corp route. Then mail it all in to ATF and wait a long time for your stamp to get back.

SBS, SBR, im assuming Shor barreled shotguns and rifles? under 16" barrel?

Up here were kinda lucky in that way, 6", 8", 12.5" and so on 870's with a full stock and overall length of 26" are non-restricted, meaning can take them anywhere and do anything thats legal.

If under 26 " it becomes restricted, meaning in the same class as pistols, as in take it to the range and home, no exceptions.

Short barreled rifles are ok too, most semis would fall in that restricted class, but its a slight warm feeling that at least in one way we up here are a bit less restricted then you guys in the states.

on the other hand, no supressors, no full-auto, no carry of any kind (other than wilderness protection for prospectors and such), 10 round pistol limit, 5 round for centerfire semiauto rifles and shotguns, and oh yea no AK because its more deadly than any other 7.62x39.......

Yeah, you guys have some funny laws up there. The only civilian owned MP7s in North America are in Canada. We will never get any here. The SBR and SBS stuff is not a Federal law, its a state thing. SBRs, SBSs, Suppressors, DDs and full auto are all OK under NFA laws(read as long as owned according to federal law). I will eventually move to a free state like Idaho or Oregon that are NFA all OK states.

yea we do

There are some recent changes too, the long-gun registry is on the way out, meaning you can buy a rifle or a shotgun without registering it. Right now if you buy any gun you must call the Canada Firearms Office and complete a transfer.

On the flipside there are changes proposed for the Explosives Act that will make me a criminal. Right now a person may have up to 225 kg (500 lbs) of powder that is loaded in ammo in a dwelling. In a few months it will be 225 kg of ammo in a dwelling (including casings and bullet).

Wow, thats messed up. No restrictions on ammo here. Fire codes restrict how many primers in a residence. Max is 10k. I keep 9500 at my house with about 4-5 in primed brass.

Hey, hope it is ok I stop by and join the thread. Never really ventured into the lounge before. Found a topic here that I enjoy. Im an avid gun buyer/trader. I am a daily carrier and love going to the shooting range.

Thought Id share a pic or two. Ive got others that I havent taken any photos of but here are a couple I already have on Flicker to share with those of you who like seeing gun pics, I know I sure do. Never get tired of looking at pistols/rifles.

This one here has been with me the longest. Id say 1993 maybe. Just love the point-ability and accuracy of a CZ 75BD.

This one is my little Ruger SR22. They came out in January of this year. I replaced my Walther P22 with it. The P22 gave me all sorts of headaches with the slide rubbing on the hammer and failure to ejects. So far the Ruger has shot everything ive fed to it which is awesome but been seeing some troubles with the slide lock gouging the underneath of the slides. So far so good with it though after about 2,500 rounds.

Shooter here! I tend to collect military surplus weapons and replicas of them. I have a few WWII vintage rifles which tend to clear out the firing range. Some don't like the sound, some seriously think that because they are old they're going to blow any minute now (all my guns are well cared for and maintained, any with questionable functionality don't get fired), and at least one smells really bad. :) Now I've been working in gun shops for years, about 7 years now, so I have more than I want to admit to owning. Not all oldies, either. But the oldies are my favorite. Yes, I have Mosinitis... I own four of them. I have two Lee Enfields (the 1962 Ishapore gets fired often, the 1926 Lithgow is sick, so it doesn't get fired, but the goal is to get it operational again), a Swiss K31, an Italian Carcano Cav gun (not fireable), and plenty of replicas. Along with a wish list several miles long. I've got the obligatory AR15 tricked out to the end of the world for no good reason, a bolt 7.62x51 that I am trying to get good enough with to compete with, etc. And handguns, but I've lost interest in handguns, so I haven't bought one years, although I do still shoot the ones I have.

So yeah... I'm the girl at the range with the pink ear muffs and the smelly WWII rifles. :)

Hey Fellow Shooters, nice thread here, just found it.

I'm in Virginia and have a CCW since just about forever. I carry a Wilson Combat tricked out 1911 Springfield in 9mm when clothing allows, and if not, a SW Detective Special in .38. I shoot mainly 1911's although as I get older, I have less patience for the .45acp and am starting to flip over to 9mm.

This is my Springfield. I do all my own work, all Wilson parts and a fitted bushing on a match bbl. She shoots real nice and has a 1.5lb trigger. To the left is a GGTB that I wrapped in Ebony Veneer but that's off topic here. I do alot of woodworking

This is a knife I made (semi off topic?) I love to work down in the shop at night, keeps me out of my wife's hair.

One of my favorite carry pieces when I go fishing. This is a side by side .22 made in Brazil. I made new firing pins from 4140 steel and also made new sears and re-hardended the trigger ledge so this thing is indestructible now. This gun is made in Brazil and not normally imported into the US. It's well made but they don't master the hardening process real well so I redid the firing mechanism for robustness.

Another knife, this one is Damascus 512 layers with Bolivian Rosewood scales and mosaic pins. This is my favorite knife.

My Winchester 1885, assembled from different pieces, cut bent and rewelded the grip into a pistol grip and re-stocked in curly maple stained with Nitric Acid and dissolved iron filings like the old buckskinners did. This one was a WWI trainer and is in .22 short from the factory. I would never ruin an original but this old thing is a Frankengun anyway so it was a save.

Also love old German air rifles. These are all mostly Weihrauch's with a few FWB's and a couple pre war Diana's
Family1.jpg

This is a new Curly Maple stock for a Weihrauch model 30. Probably my single favorite rifle because it fits me so well
TyroCheekpiece.jpg

Here she is with the Tyrolian stock and a Leupold scope. This thing hits golf balls at 25 yards if there's no wind. Very accurate gun
R8Tirol1.jpg

My Thompson Center in .38 match wadcutter. Octagon barrel and full length also in curly maple.

IMG_0762.jpg

My CZ 452 in .22, I made the thumbhole stock, curly maple again and completely free floated barrel. This thing is very accurate and shoots around 1.25" at 100 yards with Federal Match Ammo, sandbags, zero wind and zero coffee in me
CZ452.jpg

This is a pistol grip Ruger 10/22 all tricked out with Volquarzen parts and a Lilja barrel. Made for running boar competition. She swings very nicely. I used a laminated wood stock but didn't like the look of it so she's painted in Candy Apple blue.

Nice Knives! I like your file work; Is that a diamond pattern? What steels did you use in your Damascus?

Well I was going to post a whole mess of pics, but I'll just have to settle for whats on my phone. For a quick list of what I own. AN SBR AR15, built with parts I acrewd while I was in the infantry, Another AR I built with my own custom paint lol, not very creative, however thats how I learned to paint a rifle in a certain army school, a M14SE "crazy horse", SOCOM-14, Sig 228, Kimber Desert Warrior, STI off duty, which is my current CC, a Sig P238, Khar P380, HK MK23 unfortunately its just a safe queen, I need to get it out more, Yugo M-48, A Finnish Nagant, the latter two are my pig hunting guns, i know im forgetting a few, how ever i keep most of them in my fathers environmentally controlled massive gun safe. I am also big into knives. As a matter of fact I have a forge and I used to make a few until carpal tunnel kicked me in the .... The last ones I made went out to some close SF friends in 1st Group here is a pic of two unfinished ones I have. The army photo was when I was in Ramadi, Iraq, and my own little arsenal. :D You can never sleep with enough guns when you live out side the wire lol, wish I could find the pic of the PKC I "found" loved that thing.

Just an average day shooting, running some CQM drills. :toast:

Those were the days!

Im going all over the place with my conceal carry. Right now I actually have a S&W Model 327 NG on my hands but its really too big and Im getting tired of it. Trying to decide between the S&W Shield and the Ruger LCP for a new carry gun. I want the Shield much more but I kinda want a pocket gun just to make things super comfortable.
