first, let me say that this is an awesome contest.. and just the heart alone would be well worth winning!

what represents Christmas for me most is my family, and being together to share in the magic of Christmas.. This year, I get to be with my whole family for the first time in years and year, and I can't wait to be able to share in the laughter with them! Here is a picture of just part of my family.. they make all the stress of Christmas tolerable, because in the end, it's all about the happiness we bring them.. and to me, that's everything.

something that means Christmas to me?

My son Brett- Around Thanksgiving in 1997 I was told I would never have children - needless to say it was not a happy time. 5 months later I was told I would be having a baby on Dec 23.

He was a little early, but he still came home in a Christmas stocking- and camo- (an outfit handmade by my grandmother, because camo was not popular like it is now and they didnt make baby clothes yet)

This year he turned 13, and on his birthday got his first ever turkey.

Bringing my kids to hunt this year (our first ever 'hunting vacation' has been a great Christmas present for all of us. and I cant wait to do it again next year!

Santa Claus. He is so very real to me! He is the very spirit of giving, of sharing joy, that we should hold dear all year long!

When I was a child he was Amazing, the one that knew that perfect present I wanted, and always delivered, no matter what else was going on in my little world. As I grew older I came to realize he was a reflection of the love and care my parents had for me, that they gave so much thought into those perfect gifts I had received. He inspired me to start giving gifts to my family that were perfect, to search for the one thing that would bring a sparkle to their eye!

Now that I'm a parent, He is a dream, and it's such a beautiful, comforting dream of my childhood joy that I want with all my heart on a yearly basis to share it with my children! I want to see that wonder light up their eyes, that sparkle of belief in the mysterious, the untouchable, that makes the world a better place. I want my children to have the same memories of dreams coming true, the anticipation so agonizingly sweet the night before.

Someday, if I'm lucky, I will watch it continue - I'll watch my children become Santas in their own right, and I'll have just a touch of pride that maybe I created enough joy in years past that they are inspired to spark the wonder in their own childrens' hearts.

Yes Chinese take out . Every christmas my family/relatives get together and we order like 400.00 worth of Chinese take out . Dont know why we started this tradition but its awesome and we do it every year . Being Italian we also have a huge seafood dinner on Christmas eve .

The funny thing is the chinese place stays open just for us . It makes them so happy lol

Here are my two biggest reasons for loving Christmas - my kids :)

They're nine years apart in age, were both suprise blessings, and have each changed my entire world in their own way. That big strapping lad helped me grow up, and taught me independance. He taught me how strong and patient I am, and how funny the world really is! The little princess holding his hand taught me that it's ok to go home, and that its good therapy to be a girly girl every once in a while.

They're such individuals, and I love them each in their own unique way!!!

The spirit of Christmas for me is my angel.

momma.jpg

My mom passed a few months before Christmas, Oct. 19th 2008, very unexpectedly. She was the glue of the family. She planned, she cooked, she shopped and she cleaned for the holidays every year. Without her here the holidays are never the same and never will be. We manage to get by, my aunt stepped up as the Christmas cook, my dad doesn't shop, he just buys gift cards and they have come together and plan the dinners every year. The last Christmas my mom was here for she gave me a blanket, Georgia Bulldogs, I have slept with this blanket every night since she has passed. It reminds me of her and of the last Christmas she was here for and it takes me back to that holiday and it fills me with joy. She will be in all of our hearts and minds at Christmas and will be the reason I will celebrate life, like it was my last time together with my family.
