I know you Brits love your yellow teeth :)2cool:), and I know you love your gardening :))), but hats off to your countryman who married these loves with his PASSION for smoking:toast:!

Becks. You are so right yet again.
Us Brits love our gardens. Just look at mine with the ... .... mulch. The beauty of this system is that you don't need to cover the whole area to suppress the weeds. Just a sprinkling of these bad boys and the chemical composition of this much forbids anything from growing for a two foot radius. Plus it's dead easy and user friendly. Just a mere flick and that's you done.

Hi,
I just wanted to ask whether my proposed newbie setup is ok?

(a) 20 Benson & Hedges
(b) box of matches

I know that's a bit of a "here today, gone tomorrow" package but would it be enough to get me started?

Or should I go for it and buy a Dunhill pipe and solid gold Dunhill lighter? They have a great warranty and would last me a long time - I've read so much good stuff about them.

What do you think?

:)

Ohhhhh you B&H Fanboys. Always telling the newbies get the Benson & Hedges. You know there is nothing wrong with the cheaper GPC or Basic ones. lol

By the way, those Benson & Hedges aren't too bad, but if you find you're not getting enough nicotine...
You may want to look into some Lucky Strikes or Pall Malls.

Do Pall Mall still sell non-filters? I haven't seen Luckies in ages. What about American Spirit non-filters? What about Roll Your Own?

I love the way you people from the U of K even insult each other politely. Well done.

There is nothing better than to hear the British dish on someone (as long as it's not me). Wielding the English language as a razor-sharp weapon is something I aspire to. Well done! As for the Revolution thingy, we hid behind the trees...sorry, but what can ya do. Tea? Earl Grey is my favorite, and I promise never to serve it iced.

Need help on my smoke. The other day I had my Pall Mall out in the rain and it suddenly went out! I can't figure it out, I could not get it to re-ignite for an hour or so. This smoking thing is hard to figure out! I used to vape in the rain... What gives?!:(

Was it warm rain or cold rain? Were you wearing a drip shield? Were you carrying an umbrella? Well? Were you?

Unfortunatley, it was one of those violent pop-up things where it's sunny one minute and 30 seconds later sirens are going off. I was wearing my propeller-beanie but alas, the rain came down sideways. Lost the beanie too.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beanie. In times like these it can be tempting to go back to vaping. Resist! Screw your courage to the sticking-place, and you'll not fail.

Cigs are hard to light when wet imho.

I couldn't find Pall Mall unfiltered. So I improvised: I bought a pack of Marlboro Red 100's and broke off the butts. Puff Puff... :smokie:

It probably shorted out. When that happens to me I shake it and then throw it down in disgust.

what am I doing wrong?
I just can't seem to get this smoking thing down.
I bought a "pack of cigs" I guess they are disposables since you get 20 of them....they all seem to be in the same flavor and strength....they all seem to be doa.

I take one out of the packaging and try to take some hits off of them but nothing ever happens....

Ahhh - you didn't get a book of matches did you? Don't feel too stupid, it's a common newbie error. I know having to get a book to smoke makes it sound complicated, but it's nothing compared to Ohm's Law.

Combustion or burning is the sequence of exothermic chemical reactions between a fuel and an oxidant accompanied by the production of heat and conversion of chemical species. The release of heat can produce light in the form of either glowing or a flame. Fuels of interest often include organic compounds (especially hydrocarbons) in the gas, liquid or solid phase.

In a complete combustion reaction, a compound reacts with an oxidizing element, such as oxygen or fluorine, and the products are compounds of each element in the fuel with the oxidizing element. For example:

CH
4 + 2 O
2 → CO
2 + 2 H2O + energy

Assuming perfect combustion conditions, such as complete combustion under adiabatic conditions (i.e., no heat loss or gain), the adiabatic combustion temperature can be determined. The formula that yields this temperature is based on the first law of thermodynamics and takes note of the fact that the heat of combustion is used entirely for heating the fuel, the combustion air or oxygen, and the combustion product gases.

See how simple it is? Now you just have to decide if you want a book of paper matches (old school, but tried and true), a box of wooden matches (they burn longer and allow some degree of control over the power level), or a lighter (which is the usual choice of more advanced smokers, but really isn't difficult once you learn how to use the thingy).

Smoke On!
