My favorite vape is cinnamon based, which we all know can be a problem. I thought I'd share some pictures. This is what a month of cinnamon does to a vivi mini nova and 2 weeks to the acrylic grommets on a glass tank. (I thought I was home-free with glass, but I guess I should have ordered the stainless steel end caps.)

Sorry to see that, Ocelot. I would have expected that reaction to the polycarbonate tube of the Vivi Nova, but not the silicone grommets of your tank.

Thanks for reporting to the team so whoever reads this is aware to beware.

Pretty weird isn't it? I just wish I could taste something else.

big cinnamon fan here but i've been hesitant to vape any cinnamon flavors. not sure that inhaling the cinnamon oils are too smart after seeing them destroy tanks.

Well, I smoked cigarettes for 40 years and my lungs aren't made of any sort of plastic, so I'm not worried about it. If I rub cinnamon oil on my skin, nothing happens. I just wanna vape, dang it!

ETA: I'm rethinking this. I figured that since the mini was trashed anyway that I'd use it until my new tank comes. I'm not worried about the cinnamon, but I'm currently wondering if I'm getting a weird buzz off of the melting plastic.

No different than the reaction of a vision stardust, also polycarbonate and silicone in the atty head.......which is why I wouldn't buy a vivi nova for twice the price. :)

Used my clearo w/a lime flavor and the tank is completely etched / cloudy, and the darn mouthpiece did actually melt while I was vaping, I posted a photo about that here.

Pyrex tank w/stainless steel grommets I guess for you, Ocelot?

I just looked at your picture again of the melted "grommet" and looked at one of my own tank's acrylic cap. The tank that this happened to is one of OCD's, correct Ocelot?

From your pic, it initially looked to me like there were silicone grommets being used between the endcap and cartomizer, and that was what melted. I mistakenly thought the little piece that has obvious damage on top of the cap was a silicone grommet. Many pyrex tank manufacturers use those, usually in place of a common endcap. The High Desert pyrex tanks use them (see below pics).

My OCD tanks don't have silicone grommets, just the acrylic caps with typical black o-rings. So going by that, I've just realized it's the actual acrylic that was being melted by your cinnamon juice. My excuses if it was obvious to others.

That's some strong juice you've got there to actually melt acrylic! What is the name and vendor that makes it?

Ocelot, I think your only recourse is to purchase the metal endcaps from OCD, since you still have a perfectly fine tube. I would contact him and refer him to this thread, as he does occassionally come here. Hopefully he might put a warning on his website that his acrylic caps may be susceptible to caustic juices.

Ocelot, have you ever thought of maybe trying another strategy to get your tastebuds back? Like trying for a month of using flavorless juice? It's really not unpleasant to do so. Also, make sure you are really hydrating well. Then, try a non menthol, non cinnamon, non acidic juice to start back on at a normal flavor amount. I know from experience that sometimes our tastebuds get lazy because we overdo things. I cut out salt a long time ago and now I can taste the natural salts in most things. I cut out sugar and now I can taste sweetness in things I never knew were sweet before. Just a thought that perhaps could work for you. I know it may seem awful, but it's only for a defined period of time and it might make things a whole lot better for you. You might even try the flavorless approach for just one week and then test a new flavor.

Yes, the cap is from OCD. I don't know the correct terminology, but the end cap was in one piece (the picture on the left in the OP is from their website). I was adding more juice, so I took off the drip tip and was pushing the cart down with a "Slap Yo' Mama" when the cap separated into two pieces - the half below the O-ring (that had been touching the juice) just slid down into the tank along with the cart. Even now, having been rinsed off and sitting on the counter overnight it's still sticky.

I've been in touch with IBTanked, but I think they initially misunderstood when I said "melting" and thought I meant it was heat-related. I haven't heard from them since I sent a picture. I think it's going to be glass/pyrex and metal caps from now on. Up until the meltdown, I was loving the tank.

I guess the juice is really strong, but I don't have much to compare it to. I heard about it from a youtube review. I sent a message to the vendor to see if they know what set-up their other customers use, since I think they sell a lot of it. I haven't heard back from them. It's "RH Candy Cane" from Vixen Vapors.

This might illustrate it better

I may have to try that. Since I currently have nothing that will survive my favorite flavor, I'm vaping all the other juices I've bought. They might as well be flavorless though.;)

Hmmm...Vixen Vapors now has a warning for RH Candy Cane that states it's not compatible with polycarbonate or acrylic. I know that wasn't on the page until recently. I know for sure it wasn't there when I placed my order on 9/29, since the same night I posted a comment that it melted my nova.
