Cleaning Bloog Cartomizers

Geez, and I was about to offer some freshly bloogered cartos in the trade thread!

popeye, I'm not attaching the syringe to the carto. Picture a syringe without a needle, like this:

I'm just putting that tip on the rubber mouth piece and squirting. The holes aren't perfectly sized, but the cone shape of the mouth piece adapts and seals it relatively well. I'm doing this right in the boiling pot with the cartos sitting vertical on the battery end. The flush water exists the carto through the vent slots on the battery end. After marring my cartos by trying to hold them with tongs, now I'm just doing them while they are sitting on end, and I flush a given carto until I accidentally knock it over I figure the bloogiverse knows when it's clean and will use physics and gravity to let me know.

This is what I was referring to when I said syringe.

The bulb is stuck into the rubber grip from an ink pen and the carto is in the other end.
I just use warm tap water. Squeeze a couple of bulbs of water thru. Then use the bulb as a blow dryer until there is no more mist coming out of the end then bake them at 175 for a couple of hours.

Thanks, I may try something like this. With the turkey baster, I have to apply pressure to the base of the rubber squeez handle, because it's not airtight.

@ analog.. thanks, I didn't really think about it like that, but with the pen grip you don't have to worry about stickers comming off or falling over. Plus the air-tightness makes it easier to blow the excess water out too.

there's also this little gizmo from walgreen's or walmart -- the little funnel thing fits a lot of 808 carto's

Decided to make a Bloody Mary with it instead. Dirty cartos will just have to wait.

Decided to make a Bloody Mary with it instead. Dirty cartos will just have to wait.

Ha ha ha! That's why I use Aristocrat 100 proof. You couldn't PAY me to drink this stuff!

Well I have to say I'm impressed with these blank carts and I have been cleaning them with hot water. I also put them inside a shringe (I'll try to put a pic up) When I put it inside the shringe (it's a shringe that cream medicine came in), I put it in the hot water and push back and forth several times. It sucks the hot water in and out over and over. Then I thermometer shake them, sit in the window sill in the sun and by the 2nd day, ready to fill. I have not had any burn on me. I believe if you you rinse them enough and force hot water through them, they do just fine. Although some flavors like 555 may linger forever. I couldn't hardly get that smell out of my case...let alone a cart.

I know this is not the right place to ask, but I've alread ask in the newbie forum. I always look forward to my daily emial about all the updates of the threads I've subscribed to. Use to be, I could click on the blue text and it would take me right there. Now all the text is black and I'm puzzeled. I am unable to click on anything. Hope I can get it fixed.

I clean mine about the same as you, but I use a real syringe with a pointed needle. You are right about 555, it sticks around awhile Good thing I like it. I'm happy the cartos are working out for you, I like them a lot.

I also subscribed to a thread (the v4l stock update) and have never received the emails when it got updated like it is supposed to. Not sure what's up with that. Sure would be nice to know when the Wowboy & 555 is in stock before it runs out again the next day. LOL

You guys are patient! I do a 3-process boil.... 1st with 1/2 white vinegar and water, then two more times with plain water....about 10 minutes per boil. Then I bake them in the oven on the lowest setting (170?) for two hours. Crystal clean and ready to load!
