Only boil them for about 5-7 min. Some say more but if your not careful it can break a connection a kill your carto.
Thats why I say try to not boil for more than 5-7min.
Also only boil cartos that are metal. Do not ever try to boil clear (plastic) cartos or any other carto that isnt metal. It can melt the carto.

Another option for cleaning cartos that doesnt require any boiling is to use a carto cleaning syringe.
smoktek sells a carto cleaner for about $6. It does work pretty well and its very easy to do.
If you dont want to have to pay for shipping and waiting for it to come in, you can make your own pretty easily.
I posted this on another thread that someone was talking about the cleaning syringe. It only costs about $2 and you can buy it at pretty much any pharmacy.
Heres a link to the other thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/241891-used-cartos-different-juice.html#post4649105

I explained how to make it and what to do.
NOTE: This works with 510 cartos, or any carto that has the same diameter as a 510 carto. Larger diameter cartos will not fit in this.
Its very easy and works just as well as the carto cleaning kit that Smoktek sells. Its cheaper and you dont have to pay or wait for shipping.
I recommend following the same directions that are on Smoktek's website for their carto cleaner syringe.
I also posted a few pictures that show what it looks like and how it should look with a carto attached to it.
Its essentially just an oral syringe for a small child for medicine. It comes with a white rubber top that connects to the syringe. The hole is larger and is made so it can be inserted into a childs mouth, but it happens to be the perfect size for a 510 carto. Its a snug fit the first time you put a carto on, but once you get it on, it will stretch slightly and cartos will go on much easier.

Hope this helps!

That's a very nice tip. Thank you.

I never tried boiling cartos, I think it's too abrasive... I tried with 808 and 510 cartos.

I boil the water in other recipient and put the boiled water in top of cartos.

Even using lemon it always gives me, after "cleaning", that sour taste...

Best option is not using them anymore, it's not the most expensive part of a PV.

I agree about the boiling. I always felt that it was really rough on cartos.

I normally dont clean mine at all bc I get 2-3 weeks out of one anyway so I dont even bother.

If you do clean them though, the way I just mentioned is a good alternative way to do it.

I do the same thing. Boil water seperately then put it into a cup. Then using the method I just posted with the oral syringe, suck up and plunge the boiling water. It cleans them without having to let them sit in boiling water for extended periods of time.

Sandybeach,
Try this method and I think youll find it will help bring your cartos back some.
You can buy the oral syringe at any CVS, Riteaid, walgreens, etc. Thats all you need.
And I know you use a kGo so this will work perfectly for any of your cartos. You can even clean the clear plastic cartos this way. I find it doesnt melt the plastic like boiling them does bc your not letting it sit in the boiling water and are only plunging hot water thru them.

Goodluck!
