Hi All, I've been cigarette free for 4 weeks and 2 days now and for the past 2 weeks I've been cleaning like crazy! It started with our Minivan first. Pulled the ashtray (it's a 2001) out to wash and found myself washing the whole interior, then used armor-all, windex and a vacuum! Now I'm going room by room washing walls, windows and doors! We haven't smoked in the house for a few years but now that we both quit (I was a 1/2 pack and he was 1 1/2 packs a day) it seems I need to clean everything.
Now with our Michigan weather the warmer clothes that I'm pulling out I'm re-washing. My husband asked me if I was pregnant! Lol (impossible)
Has any one else gone cleaning crazy? (Thinking about painting a couple rooms too, geeeeese!)

After 2 weeks I took my car to Sonic and had it detailed. What a good way to celebrate and splurge. The car smells fantastic. I still get some odor when I turn on the air though. I don't know if that will ever go away but it's much better than it was and it definitely won't get worse.

I couldn't wait to have my coats dry cleaned. I'm really enjoying my new life now with out ciggs. Yes..it is a lot more fun to clean now knowing it will stay clean.

Change the cabin filter. There is also a spray that is made to be sprayed inside the vents, that will help alleviate any foul odors.

Check to see if your vehicle has an "in cabin air filter". Had to change out mine when I quit 2 years back. Haven't caught a wiff of ciggies since.

I cleaned all the mini blinds and windows. Nice to see outside clear again and i thought we bought brown blinds, they are bright white.

I laughed so hard at this one!!!!

To the OP I never smoked inside so, luckily, I didn't have to go through the cleaning spree. I do hear where your coming from. Can you imagine what your body is saying? Mine is probably saying, clean up, clean up!!!! I need more water!! Need to flush all these toxins out NOW!

Feels good doesn't it? :D

+1 to a cabin filter if you have one.

Also take some feebreez or odorban or the like and while the car is off, spray some into the vents and let it sit for awhile. Also, the "MAX" setting on cars is recirculated air. The intake is usually down under the passenger footwell area. With the A/C on high fan and the MAX/Recirc setting start spraying down under there. This will suck it up into the system as well and can help get some deep down odors out.

LOL good post. Myself I began with cleaning the car interior and one thing led to another- ended up repainting the entire house and cleaned everything in sight. Took some shirts out of the closet I hadn't worn for awhile and I could smell and see the tar stains- tried detergent and ammonia and the stains wouldn't come out so I tossed them.
Before I painted I cleaned the walls with TSP and the tar that came off the walls was so gross...
The cleaning process was great because it has motivated me even more to stay off the stinkies.
