Cleaning the battery terminal

So my wife just brought me her volt battery and it has some built up around the battery terminal (it's a sealed, automatic battery) and because it is sooo small, we can't find anything to clean it. A q-tip is out of the question, and the corner of a paper towel is not getting much either. What do you guys do to clean these little batteries?

I use alcohol prep swabs and either a plastic toothpick or small paperclip to get down in the groove. Prep pads are like $1 per 100 or $.01 ea. You can use a paper towel with a little isopropyl and use the toothpick to work it into the groove. You need something small like a needle to get in the airholes on the side of the connector.

I invert the batt. (connection down) and use a toothbrush with isopropyl alcohol to clean; gently shake and blow off any excess and leave inverted till completely dry.
The toothbrush gets all the cracks/crevasses and air holes also.

I recommend an old tooth brush. If its a sealed battery then you can dip it (toothbrush) in rubbing alchohol, if the gunk is really caked on.
