What kanthal are you guys using, and how many wraps? I'm thinking of rebuilding a few old ego c attys and it would save me some trail and error. I would prefer to stay close to stock ohms mabey 2 - 2.2ohms if possible. I just got some ekowool and was thinking of using that. I might do an ekowool / ss hybrid wick if it isn't too large.

I got 3mm wick when I got my EVOD heads. Now I see its too thick from reading. So I went on youtube trying to find a rewicking video not using mesh. I found these and am confused. The first one is using mesh and talks about burning to stop conduction which it looks like I could do but I'm reading here about bad taste. The second uses silica (really thin) and tin foil. My question: is that enough silica? and is tin foil safe? Tin foil seems easier but I'm totally confused now about safety.

Edit: still had time to do this.

I asked on another thread and was directed to read toxicology reports on aluminum. Based on what I read, I won't be using tin foil. Does anyone know what mesh/silica come in the original atty?

2mm is too heavy. Tried it. I unbraided it and find that two of the strands closely match the original but I'm getting horrible bad flavor and don't know why.. Since my SS mesh experimentation I resorted to trying cotton. Perfect flavor and takes about two minutes. I used cotton from Q-Tips and boiled it first. No dry hits and no flooding. The best replacement I've tried so far. Lasts a few days of heavy vaping.

And I don't use any tin foil or anything like that. I also noticed there may be confusion in this thread; when most people rewick an eRoll atty, they are merely replacing the wick in the spike. I'm not sure I've seen anybody yet replace the coils and wick. I've thought about it, but it's simply not worth my time (probably be making about $5/hour).

I was careless the other day and trashed a coil when I was pulling a spike out. Considered pulling out my soldering iron and experimenting with fixing it, and decided it's not worth it. Wicks are easy to replace - but while I know there's a thread around here about replacing the coils, it's just not worth my time.
