I use ViVi Nova's, SMOK TiTan, SplitFire, and several small tanks similar to (and including) the Stardust. I clean all of them the same way.

Disassemble
Rinse under very hot water (rinse extra long on wick/atomizer until wicks are clean'ish
Let dry for a bit
Mount bottom portion of tank with atomizer to battery and burn a few times
Reassemble
Fill half way up with juice
Wait about 5 minutes
Start vaping (which sometimes takes a few tries as remaining water burns out of wicks)

Any modifications you would make to this technique? I notice that sometimes the old flavor lingers in the wicks my way. I also have some that just taste bad after a cleaning. I've heard that some people soak their atomizers in vodka to help clean them out. Any advice, or tweaks to my process would be appreciated.

Any idea how long the atomizer/wicks should be soaked? 5 minutes, an hour, overnight?

Also, I read and watched a ton of videos about cleaning and they all say to do that burn-off process to "get rid of crap", but my coils never end up glowing red, and I worry that this just burns the wicks and adds deposits to the coil from the crap it burned off.

the only thing I do different than your procedure ...
is I carefully use paper towel to absorb the water off the wicks
& I always put a few drops of juice on coil & wicks before I reassemble ...

& if the wick or coil is really dirty, I'll use hemo's & hold the wicks & coil down in the flame of my gas stove top ...until everything burns off & out (you can see it happen...wicks will glow red ) just be aware of any o'rings that might be in the way of the flames .........

& you CAN'T BURN silica wicks ...at least NOT at the temps we are talking about ...all the crap will turn to ash & you can re rinse (after it cools) or just blow it off

Unless you put your wicks under a cutting torch, your in no danger of burning them.
Another trick me and Errol do: Drop them in a glass of boiling water done in a microwave. right after you kill the power to it.

Water that is microwaved to a boil, can actually get hotter than water boiled on a stove. (super heated)

A 190 proof Everclear soak for 24 hours have also been known to clean em' out prior to a hot water dunking, on the toughest of juices..

I soak them in a small bowl with a bit of Dawn dishwashing liquid and very hot tap water for about 10 mins then rinse thoroughly in hot tap water, blot dry with paper towel and dry burn. I had one case where I didn't clean the heads for like 3 weeks and so much gunk accumulated that I couldn't get it to burn so I could see the coils. I lost patience and threw it in my junk tin and used a new one. I'll try dry burning it again at some point.

LOL, I know it sounds terrible but I notice no difference than using distilled water, alcohol, or no soap.

Whatever works for you, of course is right............................But:
