So looking around here I found some info about cleaning atomizers with cola. I tried this on two I had used for 2 weeks and where working great, but I wanted to make sure things stayed that way. Only after soaking for an hour and rinsing tons, when they dried, they no longer work, at all.... both dead dead dead.

I only have one left and I am scared to try and clean it in any way. :(

the only way i use to clean mine is boiling in a pan for a minute or so.. then leave them to dry while you sleep at night... just remember when you go to use it again... drop some juice in it before putting the cartridge on... running dry can burn it up quick

I am sorry :( I have not tried the coke method myself. Were you careful to get the coke off the atomisers after you cleaned it, as in, did you use anything but water to wash the atomizer in? I am thinking some of the coke, for whatever reason, may have dried somewhere in the atomiser and the issue is getting it back out of there again.

I soak my atomiser in hot water and a weak solution of Dishwashing soap (I like dawn) and agitate them around, rinse them, then repeat the same in hot water and vinegar (which seems to eat up black stuff, specifically), then rinse.

After the atomizer is dry, you need to re-prime it with e-liquid as the mesh is dried out--those atomizers are still working--just re-prime them by letting the about 4 drops of e-liquid soak for on the bridge and mesh for about 15 minutes and then fire up with short and quick puffs for about 5 minutes----Sun

Me too... I don't mess around with preventative maintenance on a $10 item. My M401 has been going at least 2 months, and I beat it like it owes me money.

Bell--10 bucks indeed --but what is the real price if we can not get them anymore--that is why all of this work is going into atomizer life. It is a building process of research and new videos will be coming out in a few days--the cola bath is just the start of a work in progress. ---Sun

The key word is preventative. If it's my last atomizer in a world without atomizers, I'll do whatever I need to. :) I have a good supply of 'em, and for now they are not hard to get.

I think the "Coke Bath" is a fantastic tip to try and resuscitate a dead/dying atomizer. I'm just not advocating preventative maintenance.

For now I'm getting great mileage, to each his own.

Before you pronounce your atomizers dead try this: put 2 drops on them, screw them into your passthrough (assuming you have one) and then blow gently for as long as your e-cig will allow without cutting you off, and repeat this 5 or 6 times, then add two more drops and inhale normally. I've aready done this twice to revive seemingly dead atomizers. If it doesn't work the first time, try doing it 10 times. If that doesn't work, then they are probably dead for good, but at least you can tell yourself that you tried to save them. And remember that it's not your fault that they died, it was just their time to go.

Did Faethe say vinegar? That sounds like a really good idea, If I remember correctly that is the same stuff used to clean coffee machines and removes all the built up residue, also occasionally used on salads :) I wonder what it is in the vinegar that does that, at least I know it wont poison me or leave a sugar residue, I may try it....

Yeah - that was my reasoning. For some reason vinegar does eat stuff off the inside of the coffee machine, which is kinda like atomizer schmutz :D At least, the gunk on atomizers looks a lot like coffee schmutz. For further weirdness, the stuff in e liquid appears to be having a low PH. The Vinegar has a high ph value, so they fight

I've noticed that the vinegar does eat off the black schmutz that seems to build up on the sides of my 401 atomizer. This intrigued me because I can't just scrape it off - it's like it's cooked on there. The dawn dish soap bath seems to loosen up the schmutz while the vinegar eats it up. I see the little black stuff flake off in the bath. Eeny weeny particals.

This is obsessive 8-o But yeah I am kinda nervous that our toyz will go away and here we are with this addiction, you know?

actually vinegar is a weak acid so its a lower pH than netural of 7 higher would be an alkaline. I dont know the acidity level of the gunk on the atomizer.

Just to make a point...

I don't recommend using the cola bath method on ANY atomizer that is working as intended. I have done it a couple of times on working atomizers and gotten good results but I am (and have been) willing to potentially sacrifice some hardware for the sake of testing. I've gotten lucky, thus-far, that I haven't killed an evo atomizer.

I want people to look at the cola bath the same as using paddles on a person in v-fib...They may work, they may not. When they work, they work well...When they don't nothing was lost that wasn't already gone and if you use them on a person that's sitting up and talking you run the risk of killing them.

Any advice given to anyone, by anyone on this (or any other forum) should be approached with caution and a generous serving of constructive skepticism. Remember, anything you ever try worked for everyone who ever tried it, right up 'til the point that it didn't.

Also, be aware that doing this type of "maintenance" will most certainly void ANY warranty you have on your gear.

You've been warned.

Thank you all for the advice.
Passthrough?

I just ordered 2 more atomizers from Pure so hopefully will not be so freaked soon.

A USB passthrough is an empty battery shell with a wire hanging out of the LED end that plugs into a USB port on your computer and allows you to vape endlessly without having to worry about battery life. For some reason blowing gently only works on my passthrough and not my normal batteries, and I've heard the same story from one or two other people, so that's why I suggested doing it with a passthrough. You want to blow gently and not inhale doing this because the vapor is going to be extremely harsh and taste horrid.

And unlike using vinegar or cola, this will not void your warranty because you are just heating your atomizer up, which is what it's designed to do.
