PGA works the best in my opinion.
Removes most flavors, loosens / removes coil gunk, sterilizes and evaporates quickly.
Not everyone can get PGA......and it's pricey - at least here in the Northeast.....I can get a fifth of 100 proof vodka for the same price as a PINT of Everclear!!!
:(
Agreed, though...PGA DOES do a great job of cleaning......it nearly "cleaned" my stomach lining out years ago.....!!!:D

I normally use Barton's or whatever is the cheapest. There's no need to use a Premium Vodka to clean with unless you simply don't have anything else to use and need to clean your coils *now*.

I wouldn't drink Barton's, but it'll do when it comes to cleaning :). I prefer Grey Goose or Stoli.

I usually use water but there are situations where alcohol is necessary. Particularly strong and lingering flavor in the wicks, any time I do a dark liquid, coils too gunked up (in one case had burned a cotton wick), first cleaning after a build and when a coil isn't staying clean long enough after the previous cleaning are times when I use pga.

As far as that goes, I don't dry burn every time I clean.

I have used all of the formentioned. I did not find that the vodka worked any better that a good hot water rinse. I am sure that different devices may react different. My technique is simple. Put the bits'n'peices is a plastic container and soak in hot sink water. swish around. Dump and refill/repeat a few times. That's my way.

When a clearo or head gets junky throw it in the vodka. Use a new head, when its bad, swap it with the one thats been sitting days in the vodka. As long as you havent burnt the crap out of your wick and it fires it will work nicely. With water you have to boil the water, swish it around, and you should not leave it completely dry for a period especially after being wet, so you want to get some juice on that coil before it has a chance to corrode at all.

I always have a bottle of 190 proof sitting around to "sterilize" things in the kitchen that I'm cooking certain things that need a mostly clean area. Ill usually rinse everything off in hot water for a few minutes then soak the parts in the alcohol for a bit. If I use a cinnamon juice, or something with a strong flavor like that, I just toss the wick.
