Alcohol is a solvent. It will dissolve some things that distilled water will not. It also is a sanitizer. It evaporates after use quicker.
For some more cleaning tips here are a couple of links.

I use a water pick after to flush the stuff out good. Someone today recommended a tablet denture cleaner. I'm going to give that a try. I will however flush it out good as I would not want to be vaping that cleaner later.

Valid point. The diff between water and alcohol is that it will dissolve some if not most oils. That is how they make extracts. But I use distilled water at the end to flush.
When you us vinegar you need to use distilled white vinegar and then flush it good our you will possibly leave behind some of that acid when it evaporates.
It just comes down to what works for you. I have had poor luck cleaning dual coil stuff. If I can't see the coil I can't dry burn. I fried a couple that way.
