Maybe - are you drinking LOTS and lots of water? vaping can really dry out mucous membranes. What ratio of PG:VG are you vaping; do you know?

Also, bear in mind that quitting smoking, with or without vaping, makes many people hack/cough/clear throat, as old smokers' crud in your lungs starts breaking loose and cleaning out. (Doesn't that sound just lovely. o_O)
Somewhere on here there's an excellent sticky detailing symptoms of quitting smoking/starting vaping. It's excellent, perhaps someone else knows where to find it.

my first two weeks of vaping I had the same problem, aswell as blood when I blew my nose. I was worried it was vaping and I'd have to quit and smoke again, but Research told me the phlemn and the cough that I got and some of the blood was just from quitting smoking, some of the nose blood could have been from vaping, as mentioned before pv can dry your throat and nose, I just drank lots of water and kept on vaping, I feel perfectly fine now, way better than I ever did smoking, and I can actually smell and taste things :D

The stuff left over from smoking could be trying to come up. I know it sounds gross ... But when I entered basic training I coughed/puked up some nasty, nasty looking stuff while running. I said to myself "Ill never smoke again! ... UGH.. ..." And bam!! The day I left that craphole I fired up a cig.

I have sinus issues and my dad also clears his throat alot. Im no doctor ... HA all I can do is guess and waste time!

anybody have info on juice thickness?

No clue...I've not ever bought juice from a mall but the couple of times I got juice (nasty Chinese crap that I ended up tosing) from a local smoke shop it was 100% VG.
Ratios vary and not all vendors are explicit about what their ratios are. I think sweeter juices are more likely to have higher VG but absent anyone having a definitive answer I'd spend a little time checking out ECF-approved suppliers, and contacting them for information. Established juice mixologists are probably a better authority overall than random vapers unless said vapers are knowledgeable in mixing their own juice.

There is an explanation for the stuff people cough up when they start vaping- it was a chemist that explained this to me: PG is a 'humectant'- you will find it in some cough medicines (and in asthma inhalers) because of what it does. It opens up your chest and sinusses (literally moistens them), loosens 'goop' enabling it to be expectorated. All that goop that's coming up is from when you were smoking- better out than in!!

Thicker juices are usually more VG (Vegetable Glycerine), while thinner juices usually have a higher PG (Propylene glycol) content. Most like a mix of the two, and some do 100%VG. Hope that helps some?

Thicker juices will kill your carto/clearo/ atty faster though. Personally I like 70pg/30vg. Not too thick, easy on the carto but still lots of vapor.

Not to mention the wicking problems thick juices can cause.. Some of my e liquids are high % VG and thick, but I get around that by slightly watering them down with a couple of drops of vodka per ml. Certainly helps with my tank system.

Now, any chemists out there want to comment on the use of vodka as a diluent? Lots of people do it, but if I remember my chemistry classes at school, depending on what temp a liquid containing alcohol is heated to you get different types of alcohol evaporating off, most of which are toxic. Myth or fact? :)
