Hello! I'm currently trying to figure out exactly what i need for some blanks to start flavor testing and i found these phoenix xl 808 threaded clearomizers, and assume these would work fine, but i do not understand the signifigence of "top coil" vs "bottom coil."

I just want some thing i can use with this threading, is similar in size diameter, and can be cleaned to try new flavors while im trying to find my land legs in vaping.

Thanks in advance,

Try these three items to get yourself an atomizer/dripping set up. I agree that it's the best option for testing juice.

Your e-cig is a different threading (connector size) than most atomizers, so you'll need an adapter to fit a 510 atomizer. They are extremely cheap (less than $2). You can find one here:
901/808D Battery to 510 Atomizer Adapter
You'll then need a 510 atomizer, which is also fairly cheap(about $6) and can be found here:
Bauway 510 Atomizer, 2.5 ohms
Lastly, you'll need a Drip Tip (about $2), which can be found here:
Acrylic Drip Tips

All three of these items should run about $10 and are from the same website, so there's only one shipping cost.

Dripping is fairly easy, but if you're not sure, there are videos on youtube that can instruct you.

Here's a few I found:
Electronic Cigarette - What is Direct Dripping? - YouTube
E-Cig 101 - Class 2 - Attys, Refills, & Dripping - YouTube
Electronic Cigarette Dripping Technique: How to Use, Short Demonstration by VaporNine - YouTube

Hope this helps!

If you really don't want to try dripping, cartomizers and clearomizers aren't a terrible idea. Cartomizers are cheap enough that I don't mind "wasting" one to try a juice I've bought. I already spent some money on the juice sample, so the cartomizer cost is just part of that. Clearomizers aren't too difficult to clean. I've cleaned out a few and put in different flavors without any problems.

The way I cleaned my clearomizers:
Pour out the juice, fill with warm water, shake it up, pour it out. Repeat this a LOT.
Pour in a small amount of vodka, shake it up, and let it sit for 5 minutes or so (longer if you'd like - I'm just impatient). This isn't VITAL to the process, but will help clean out the old flavor.
Pour out the vodka and rinse with warm water again.
Place in a small container with uncooked rice for several hours. This will dry out the inside.
OR if you're impatient like me, you can place the clearomizer back on the battery and do some "dry hits", basically heat up the atomizer with no juice to help dry out the wick. Then put in the next juice.

Edit to Add - I'm still a newbie myself, so I might not have cleaned out my clearomizers correctly. Veterans can feel free to correct me. I promise I won't throw a tantrum and tell my mommy.

Ok, I would not do the dripping as a newbie. There is a technique to it. If you drip too much, then you flood the atty and get it all over the battery. You need a manual battery for it as well.

You don't want to use a carto to test Flavors. First, because it mutes the Flavors. Second, because if you don't like the flavor, you've wasted a carto. Personally, I don't want to spend $1.85 on a carto to test a juice.

Use the Phoenix bottom coil 2.4-2.6ohms. I just posted a video on YouTube demonstrating the Phoenix on the volt. Here is the link. http://youtu.be/ELM4QhceR7o

The bottom coil is easier to clean out than the top coil if you don't like the juice because of the shorter wicks. Also, it is the most similar to the taste you would get with the si carto. The top coil is similar to the x2 clearos. Again , get the 2.4-2.6. Because they are 1.5ml, the vapor is too cool with the 2.6-2.8.

Gotvapes is having a fathers day sale. "daddyrules" will get you 5% off and if you subscribe to their newsletter, you get another 5%. By the way, once you try the Phoenix, you'll never want to use a carto again

I use CE3s which is another name for the Phoenix and as of right now, they are my go to system. A little hassle to fill as you need a syringe but they vape great, do not leak, and are very easy to clean & switch flavors. I've tried near every type of carto & clearo and none of them work as well as the CE3s...

I agree. They clean easier than a vision, don't crack and are inexpensive. I was discouraged at frost about the syringe, but they are so portable, I just carry one or two extra filled ones if I am out for the day, just like I would a carto.

Gotvapes works with the manufacturers and had some adjustments made to them, but yes, they are ce3

Thanks for the info guys! Sounds like a bottom coil is what i'm in for. Any place with a deal on them, or sells them as singles so i can try a couple out? If it is a generic type (ce3?) i'm most interested in cost control until i know i like em!

This place is so helpful, it amazes me still. I feel like it is an oasis on a troll filled interwebz.

I have never seen them in anything less than a 5 pack. If someone sells them individually, you'll pay more.

Yes, you can use an adapter, but why bother since gotvapes carries them in 808. Also, I'm not sure if you are using manual or auto batteries, but many times adapters don't work on autos

Sitting down, facing forward.
I guess I'm not as "selective" about the taste as many/most. I've just re-filled with my new juice into previously used cartridges. Does take a few refills to purge the old flavor, but it works and does offer an idea what the mix would taste like. In the grand scheme of things the cost of a cart or clearo really isn't all that important to me, and I'm on SS. I do wonder if the clearos will work on the regular batteries given that the cartridges work on the X2 batteries.

Great video!
The Phoenix looks interesting, can these be used with my kgo?

Yes, gotvapes sells them in 510. The kgo is 3.7 regulated, just like the volt products, so I recommend the 2.4-2.6ohm ones for the bottom coil and either one for the top coil. I have used all 4. My feeling is that because they are 1.5ml and a little longer, the 2.6-2.8 ones have a much cooler vape since the tube is longer so the lower resistance ones compensate. The 2.4-2.6 ones wll not hurt your battery. I have done the math, and even on a small battery like the 65mm volt (240mah), the battery life charge is minimal.

Smokeless image clearos will work on the smaller batteries, they just look funny. They are the same resistance as the cartomizers.

As for flavors, I have about 20 flavors in my rotation so I want the full taste. Before I started using the Phoenix, I went through 3 cartos a day. I do refill them about 20-30 times, but each is designated to a flavor. I only use about 10 different flavors in cartos, the rest go into the clearomizers.

I worry about wasting money. $1.85 per cartomizer adds up., I make them go as long as possible. I don't clean them or anything, but when the taste gets funny or vapor goes, I will toss. Since I stretch them to about 20 refills, I save a lot. I go through 3-5 ml a day, of which 2-3 is in cartos. If I tossed them after 5 refills, over the last month I would have spent $35 just on cartomizers. I would rather spend the money on juice
