Unlike many others on this forum, I don't have an issue with shinyitis (okay, maybe I do, a little bit, but my frugality always wins in the end).

I have carts at 2 or maybe 3 or 4 different stores right now, ready to purchase. But I don't know what I really want/need.

I'm currently using a Subox Mini, and after having leaking issues with the OCC coils, I switched to the RBA. I've had no leaking, but the .5 ohm is a bit more than what I want right now, so I'm having trouble deciding where to go next. Do I buy pre-made coils from myvaporstore? I can get just about everything else from them too, except a coil master.

Or should I just bite the bullet and buy wire and a coil master jig? Do I need an ohm reader? Even if a buy the pre-made coils?

How many times can I dry burn and re-wick the coil that's currently in there? I've done it twice so far, am I going to need a new coil soon?

Should I buy a sample kit from VapeWild? I can get wire from them, what gauge? But I can't get an ohm reader if I need one, or a coil jig or cotton. Mtbakervapor was ok, but not great, but I haven't finished it
yet. I shouldn't waste juice, yk, right?

Oooh, I can get a coil master from Amazon!!!! But nothing else...

Why do I need ceramic tweezers? Are the regular needle nose ones I have ok for now?

Somebody talk me through this please.

You have more restraint than I do, so good on you for that!

Buy ALL the things!! (just kidding. Mostly.)

Do you mean too much as in resistance too high? It's really a matter of how your tastes run. Personally, I prefer to rebuild, but it's a hobby for me, and I like that the last quality control check on a coil is ME. I'll address the coil master later.

Okay. I enjoy building, and there are a LOT of different tools for building coils - I own several different brands. I am currently using the Coilmaster V3, which I really like. However, if you've got decent coordination and good motor control, there's not much of a difference between a 2.5mm coil wrapped on a 2.5mm drill bit and a 2.5mm Coilmaster coiling rod.
Your mod has a built-in ohm meter, so you really don't need a separate meter, but it's always a good idea to have a second method of reading resistance. They're pretty cheap, work decently well, and act as a decent base to build on.

It could be weeks to well over a month. I change coils pretty regularly, but, again, I like to build.

I like sample packs and sample sizes, I bought a ton of them when I started. As long as it's a decently rated supplier, it's a good investment, at least from my perspective. You never know what you'll find!

As to wire gauge, I am usually around 26, 27, and 28 gauge for most of my tank builds, but I rarely do any high powered tank vaping except when I have my Goblin out. Remember, the thicker the wire/lower the gauge, the more power you're going to need to heat the wire (generally speaking).

Wick, wire, coil master, tools, etc.., you just need to look around a bit.

Why do I need ceramic tweezers? Are the regular needle nose ones I have ok for now?

Need is a tough sell. They're nice to have because you can tweak your coils while applying power, which you shouldn't do with metal tweezers. They're not 100% neccessary, but nice to have.

Somebody talk me through this please.

We're here to help!

I used a 2.5 and 3mm micro screw driver and got by just fine. 50' of kanthal is like 4 bucks on ebay. Nail clippers work just fine. Cotton is also dirt cheap on ebay. That's really all you need to start building. The beauty of an rba is you can build it to your taste instead of using premade options. And it's cheaper. It's up to you how much you spend. Watch some videos on YouTube most people aren't using jigs and ceramic tweezers. Just don't hit the button while you're touching the coil.

I use 24, 26, and 28g kanthal for building depending on the tank. For the stm, I would do 6 wraps at 3mm of 24g and have a good 0.6, or twisted 28 same wraps and diameter for 0.7 or so.

Thanks for all the advice! I think I just felt overwhelmed last night because there was no one stop shop for all of the things I feel like I need to pick up.

I'd like to have the capacity to build coils at around 1 ohm down to .5. I'm still trying to find my sweet spot in that regard.

I think I'm going to get the wire, cotton, and a juice sampler from VapeWild and get an ohm reader and coil master from Amazon. I know I don't NEED the coil master, but I don't have the best fine motor skills when it comes to fine details in small spaces, so I'm sure it will help.

Ohm reading device is a must. Your also going need some really good batteries and charger. As far as a coil winding tool get a cheap set of drill bits. Then you will be able to make different size coils. Also a small torch to anneal your wire before you make your coils this will also burn off any oils and contaminants on the wire.
