There is a limit...

Try to convince me there is more R&D, CNC work, quality metal and parts in a mech mod than there is in this puppy:

That's $199,- ... for a combustion engine!

This is a great example. Lol. A lot of the parts are cast, which lowers cost in this case, but PV manufacturers could also be using investment casting for all of these stainless steel mods.

I'm thinking ornate, finish machined, cast naval bronze. Yowza! ;-)

(To be honest, I wrote "naval". Then, thinking - "Am I saying belly button, or naval, as in naval academy?" I had to look it up. I got it right the first time... but it could have easily been "belly button bronze". :) )

I stay within my budget WITHOUT having to mod for voltage loss, due to crap construction.

A good thread title would be (not that this isn't one) Which Clone Has No Voltage Drop/Needs No Modding.

Followed by its sister thread, All high end mods also have voltage drop.

Most of the clones are from China. There is a cultural mindset which doesn't look down upon clones, but in fact, looks at clones as way to share ideas. My personal opinion is the clones from China may, just, may improve a product to become better. However, it seems to me that some manufacturers just want to produce a product, sell it, and do nothing to improve their product. The Chinese will take the same product, make some improvements, and sell zillions at a much cheaper price. Most original manufacturers, in my opinion, will not take the time or money to improve their products but just hope their products sells. It's a shame because by improving their product, they can improve their market share. Look at how computer manufacturers improve their product. Look at how many times Apple has improved their OS, iPhone, etc. And how many times has Bill Gates gets richer by all the different versions of Windoz.

Not trying to be preachy gents and ladies... I just don't get these circular arguments. No one... and I defy anyone to tell me they do, buys only originals.

I don't own a clone and never bought one. I don't really have an issue with buying clones if I know it is the best quality I can buy for that model. So I can either spend a lot of time doing research of just buy the original. So I guess I'm just lazy. On the other hand most of the things I buy work.

.....To those who have both, clones and the real deal; do you find it was worth it to fork out the $200+ for an authentic device? I will be selling my Reo just as soon as I can get verified and I will have a dilemma on my hands lol. Buy a couple clones and cloned atty's, or buy 1 authentic device.....
Thanks!

I want the last 15 min of my life back. :p
Read this whole thread to the end and no one answered this question.

I may have to buy something fancy just so i can join the 'highfalutin, rootin tootin, invite only High End Mod club forum'.

Then i can swirl my brandy, puff on a cuban-vape, and laugh at the proletarian ants as they smoke on their inferior clones.
Exactly my friend exactly!..

Clone or not, most important thing is that I am not somking anymore.

I personally do not have issue with clone. I would not feel too bad when I drop my mod or break it.

It's hard to pass on clone since clone visual quality are very acceptable(some cases really good). Also, they perform close or same as original mod.

There are some mods that I do want to get original such as GP Paps Lux and Caravella. However, it's very hard to get them or hassle to get them.

People buy what's acceptable to them..

Most importantly, all I care is that I am not smoking anymore!! I am very happy about that.

These are just my personal opinion..

Although, stonedpenguin, there is 0 voltage drop NOT under load on HE mods..only to be made 0 drop WITH load after modding.
Oh ye, thine eternal arguer.

So, your argument is invalid. Argue on, carlton jesus.

Deal.

I'm pretty sure there are no mechs-original or otherwise- that have 0 voltage drop under load. It's just the nature of the beast. Aside from the fact that the mod is not even the cause of all drop under load.

I was doing some more thinking...

I think Mojo should send a hand written letter to the man who is cloning his mod. Let me explain...

These clones are essentially paying Mojo, and other 'mod engineers' (haha) a LOT of respect by actually putting his print, name, symbols etc on these devices.

What if these 'clone' companies decided to just make their own line? Their own symbols, designs, niches and what not. They would be creating a beast that COULD in fact take out these 'authentic' $250+ mods. Why? Well they can have their own names, models etc. Hell, they could make them look pretty damn nice (as we can see via clones), BUT they wouldn't be stepping on anyone's toes. These 'new aged mods' would look really nice, operate on par with the 'authentic' mods, YET they'd still be selling for $20-$60. At this point nobody could call it a 'knock off', 'counterfeit', or 'clone'. It would simply be a really nice mechanical mod at a SMALL fraction of the price.

Though some may not see my logic, I truly think I am on to something. These 'authentic' mod makers better start doing something to really stand out, other than slapping a $250 price tag on their devices. I'll be honest, the more I think about it, the more I am kind of turned off by these ridiculously over priced "real" mods, rather than the "clones".

I think the market will always have people wanting clones. As some cannot afford the real deal. Having compared the real vs fake, performance wise I can't tell any difference.

In my case, I prefer to have the original, should my funds permit. If not I just save up. If it's going to take too long, a clone is on order in the mean time. For me having something cheap and performs well keeps me vaping. Operating a two story tall machine at work, there is too high of a risk for me to drop my King, Dominus, Nemesis, etc. off it. A clone wouldn't hurt so bad. lol
