Got my new Loki labs drip tip in. And found this don't drip and drive atty band at my local be and just had to have it. Is it too much green. Maybe... nah. I plan on giving the mod a clear coat of plasti dip toninght. To protect the finish

Love that mod and that tip is sweet too! [emoji4]

I dropped mine minutes after getting it, in such a way that it skidded several feet across my gravel driveway [emoji17]

But then again, that is normal wear and tear for me.... I don't think the cerakote gods like me very much [emoji13]
Ouch. I'm not worried about mine. I love this thing and it never leaves my side. Fact of the matter is we use these things all day long 7 days a week. It is impossible for something that gets used that much to not show signs of wear.

The problem isn't the ceracote as long as it's applied correctly. The issue is the substrate; the aluminum underneath. My sniper boy in 7075 (much harder aluminum) has been dropped in gravel, on concrete, on railroad ties (with steel spikes and rail) and mine is nearly unscathed. My 7068 (twice as hard as 7075 and 4 times harder than 6061) look like brand new. If I ever have an option for stronger/harder material I will always take it. I would love to see another shotgun video of the three metals just to show the difference in hardness. If you did visible damage to the 7068 I would be amazed. Bare in mind 7075 is triple the price of 6061 (stock) and 7068 is about ten times the cost of 6061 and very hard to find. I would spec bare minimum 7075 if it's to be cerakoted, but what do I know... I'm just the hammerhead that drills holes in stuff.

The cerakoted mods and atty caps I've owned don't hold up to my extremely gentle handling very well. It appears to scratch off rather easily.
Hmmmmm wouldn't think that would be case with something that was designed to be used as an extremely durable firearms coating.

Correct but most firearms are not made of 6061 aluminum. Most are forged aluminum or milled out of 7075 billet (just like my sniper boy)

Well that certainly makes sense. Not so much an issue with the cerakote but more of an issue with what is being applied to. All things being equal with the application process

Totally unscathed :D It goes with me everywhere I go when leaving home. I use it hard! The reason I wanted to go 7068 was so I would not have to worry about it's durability. You made the 7068 possible and I'm immensely grateful!! Didn't you clear one of your 7068's?
