Is the fire button on top set in stone or can it be elsewhere like on the side with the display or on the top at an angle ?

It's just over 2in long, just wide enough to protect a 22mm atty, it's the same width as my mech 18650s, and it's the same height, a little over 3in. Tall.
It's as small as you can possibly have a 10ml bottle an 18650 battery and the j board. It's tight.

These are both bead blasted. The one that's upside down is clear coated.

i know i know, i hate waiting too, im waiting on faceplates right now and its pissing me off.. i gotta say ive never been a fam of regulated mods but this little j board is a badaszz. it kicks up to 70w to ramp up if you want, theres a bunch of other presets for ramp up that are independent of your other settings. adn i made sure the thing squonks as well as my mech mods so its really been impressing me, and ive been running 30ml/day thru the thing.
See I'm the opposite. Always had regulated, picked up a Reo and don't care for mechanical. It is a nicely made device but I prefer to have the same vape throughout the life of my battery.
