I NEED EVERYONE'S INPUT!!!!

If you could have a DNA75 8.5ml mod which runs off of 3.7v that means you can run a lipo or an 18650 what configuration would you prefer?

A. Built in , non removable lipo, that you can charge in the mod, (charges slower).

B. Removable lipos, so you can carry multiple lipos and swap them out. (you'll need a lipo charger to charge them externally)

C. 18650, removable, Keep it simple.

What do you think ?

I'd vote 18650, but that's because I love my SX350J T-mod, and because the vast majority of us already have spare 18650s and chargers. Wouldn't have to go buy anything else. ;)

If I do it both ways it would have to be bigger, not a lot but it is gonna be bigger. The lipo is stupid tiny, I could make it really small if I do it that way, even smaller if it's not removable but then you have to charge it onboard and its slower.

The reality of lipos is the lack of battery sag, you pretty much get full power till its dead, the battery four bucks, and you can get a charger that's twenty. You don't have to worry about it arching in your pocket either, it's just a plug, won't arch out on keys or change in your pocket.
I've been running the 200 with the lipo, two different ones, and the tray, alternating between the three and the lipos are great, they take 20min to charge, and that's taking my time.

So for thirty bucks you can have two of these single c lipos for the 75 mod, and a charger.

Never tried a mid with a single cell lipo, but the noticable lack of sag is why I would prefer the LiPo over the 18650

Damn... okay, well LiPo actually sounds like a really good option! When you say that onboard charging is slower... how much slower is it? Still under an hour? Is it pass-through (can you vape while it's charging)?

The onboard charging is at 1 amp... Can't give a time for the LiPo that Tbev will be using, but I can tell you that a 3c 900mah LiPo charges in approx 90 min using the built in USB charger

anyone know why a lipo when charging would get to 98-99% and then stall and not get to 100% full charge....ever?

I've observed on some DNA200 devices that the charging drops down to 0.1 mA when nearly full, but they have always completed.

Mine will go to 100%, but if I don't disconnect it from the charger, it goes down to 98% while still plugged in

Ya know, that's certainly what I see as well. I do try to grab the as soon as charge completes, and not leave them charging overnight or while not at home.

That's typical of LiPo charging circuits. It's bad for the battery to continue charging after 100% and it's bad to keep topping them off at 99.8%.
So the circuit has some hysteresis in it, letting the state of charge drop a few percent before it tops off again. I assume the DNA circuit will turn on and top off at some point.

Cell phones cheat and continue to display 100% when in this mode. Then when you remove the external power you often see a 5-10% drop immediately when the OS check the current state of charge. If you then attach power it'll charge to 100% again in a few minutes. (this is part of the "bump charge" stuff you can find for getting the max charge in the battery).
Your Smartphone’s Battery Gauge is Lying to You (and it’s not such a bad thing)

What I'm doing for some people is putting a dna75 in the same dna200 mod. But wiring the battery tray (dual 18650s) in parallel, so it's still 3.7v but you get a lot more life. I'm trying out different lipos for that confirmation right now.

The dna200 mod you can passthru (vape and charge) thru the usb on the board, it's a slow charge.

i was able to catch it at 100,just have to keep a closer eye on it while charging...thanks ya'll
Or unplug it then plug back in for a few minutes to top it off.

But honestly, the wear isn't worth a few % more charge. Just use it at the 9x%.

Other than the cost of the board what's the benefit of doing this vs the 133 option? 6v , 36mm wide battery but giving up 58 watts. I don't see your logic. I went through the same argument in my head when I was looking to adapt to the dna75. As I recall Rudedog and I had a similar conversation offline. What's the upshot?

The 75 mod will be smaller, is I think what you're asking, but your right, it depends on the battery. You can run 2 18650's in parallel on the 75 board for example, but only if you run it in the same larger mod, if 75w will do it for ya, and I can get a smaller lipo that doesn't suck, I'll do it. The first little 3.7v lipo I tried will empty half a 8.5ml bottle. It's tiny, and I can build a mod with the 75, that lipo the 8.5ml bottle and it will be tiny. The lipo swaps easy / quickly and it only cost like four bucks, so it's not bad, but I'd like to do better, I'm still looking.
