I dont know anything about RBAs and RDAs except what's posted here. I'm tired of the muted flavor of my carto tank and I love the taste, but hate the inconvenience of dripping. Is a RBA/rda for me? If so what do you recommend? My requirements are: pyrex tank, doesnt leak, straightforward setup. Mesh I think is preferred over silicone. I read that the Zen leaks, do all genesis style leak? Please help! Thanks

Octopus is what I got. I am in the same boat. It has been two days since I had vaped anything so don't worry. Can't seem to build the octopus right.rebuilding the protank coils aren't working either. My vivi Novas all burn up when Install them. I got nothing left lol. All out of devices and money for now. Might just try and quit all together, good opportunity to try, I can't vape even if I wanted. I know how you feel. Went through 3 feet of wire and 3 ft of silica wick yesterday trying to build the octopus and rebuild the protank heads. Every single one failed. When they did work they sucked. Protank heads even rebuilt preform the same as the crappy stock heads. Tried cotton on a stock head, but got burnt after a day. The protank Is just very poorly designed no wicking going on in that tank. I stumped, same boat.

cobra fan boy here.................... all genis will leak but some take a loooong time first, i can easily lay my cobra down for a few minutes with no problems it takes well into an hour or so before i notice the tank getting lower (topcap is filling up).

the octi is a kickbutt dripper but the way the deck is built it leak fast. i clogged the airhole with a toothpick and redrilled a hole same level as the wick on the side now its insane lol

what was said holds weight, a terminator or killer clone is pretty leakproof and has a tank and works well for the price.

Sounds like you're doing something wrong. Possibly several things.
A rebuilt head should perform noticeably better than any stock heads.
I rebuild vivi heads every other day and have never had problems like you describe.

If you'd like some help feel free to pm me.

Is a RBA/RDA for me?

No.

if dripping is too much of a hassle, then having to make coils and sorting out hotspots, is a nightmare.....
if setup improperly these setups will leak... all at once.... lmao
have a go and try it... just don't abandon your carto-tank just yet.

by the sound of it, you still have a lot of reading to do, before you actually dive into the rebuildables.
keep on reading, your questions have all been answered.

Based on all of your comments, I would stay with carto tanks.

Have you tried the Ikenvape cartomizers, yet? When using traditional cartos for tanks, the IKV cartos are the only ones I will use, now. They afford me the best performance over the Boge and Smok cartos, which I have used.

They are usually sold out within days of being stocked at Ikenvape. The pre punched IKV fusions and platinums may be your answer.

:thumb: I agree with this. RBAs are not for everyone. They are not plug-n-play easy. They require a potential user to research, do more research, and then even more research. There is also the subject of them being unsafe if you don't know what you are doing, so don't skip the research on battery & mod safety, owning and knowing how to use a multimeter, let alone learning how to roll a wick and wrap a coil correctly.

I've saved you a lot of trouble by already collecting a lot of resource information in one place. Study my article "Advice and Tips for Vapors Looking to Try Their First RBA" in my blog: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-tips-vapors-looking-try-their-first-rba.html

Read over the material and see if this is really for you. I suspect....NOT! ;)

Perhaps eraticmind is correct. Stick with cartotanks for a while. Get a true high end cartomizer such as the Ikenvape Platinum or 510 Fusions. Once you are ready to try an RBA, you'll likely know.

If you get a battery set up such as a Vamo or mech you can leave the Genesis in a vertical position and that should stop your leaking problems, just can't stick it in your pocket. For a pocket or carry around I use clearos tanks on small batts. They make them now out of a poly which is better than the plastic. I have a Vision Eternity which is a tank-dripper combo. For dripping it holds 20+ drops and will last quite some time. The tank holds just a bit more but is not worth going that route often. It is all metal. If over filled it will leak, been there done that.
Personally if I did not like tinkering with coils and wicks, I would stay with clearos for the simplicity, fairly decent taste, ease of cleaning, and replaceable heads (I redo my own).

Agree with what a lot of others have said here. It's probably not for you based on low tolerance for frustration.

If you are having muted taste issues with a carto tank, one of the more simple fixes is just to make the hole a bit bigger. I see many vendors selling carto punches these days in the 5-10$ range. Are you using the pre-drilled ones? As the great Busuardo says, THE HOLE IS TOO SMALL!
