Mark Steyn was the guest host on the Rush Limbaugh radio show yesterday and did a very positive whole segment on e-cigs. He was specifically addressing giving smokers another method to quit analogs. He said that banning or restricting e-gigs would be a tragedy as it would condemn smokers who could be helped to die an early death. His best statement was, and I paraphrase, the violent anti smoking groups think that e-cigarette users are cheating the system. Being able to quit cigarettes without the pain and agony of withdrawal is just not fair.

Hi All,

Seems as though a car is not the place to charge an e-cig's battery.
CNN Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com
Nor cell phones. Burning hot and even melting cell phones are occurring more and more often. Is it the chargers? The batteries? The automotive's charging socket? Why is this happening? Until they figure it out, I would refrain from using the car charger for anything over the recommended 30 minutes.

I dont have an answer for this. Its just a pile on of bad publicity e-cigs will get. There has to be a concern tho every time this happens. WE cant sit here and blame the parent. I'm sure in her mind she didn't do anything wrong, and that may be the case. I wonder if all of these explosions have been "no name" brands?? Have any Joye batts exploded? Is this a quality control thing? Was it just too damn hot in the car??

I try to be the most careful ALL THE TIME!! Having said that.....I went into the doctors office the other morning, I left my 4800MAH mod on the passenger seat in the sun for over an hour. Real idiot I am:facepalm: It just happened, I forgot. The thing is, I know enough about battery dangers, and would not attempt to fire or charge it the rest of the day. The woman in question could have had that battery baking in the car and hopped in the car and immediately plugged it in....who knows...Im pretty certain, her, like my own mom, doesn't understand the dangers of these things!

Either way, not good for us!!

That was Mark Belling, not Steyn, yesterday...

Several of us here won't panic and are lockin' n loadin'

When the FDA makes public its mischief ...
Those of us who understand and been through this kind of stuff before
know many "so called freedom fighters" will immediately buckle
and start talking about "stocking up" and "DIY".

When that happens ...
I suggest we should point members to one of the longest running discussions
in ECF history to talk about that stuff so we here can stay focused.
Otherwise ... all the threads will morph into stock-up" and "DIY" and build your own MOD discussions.

That thread was started back on Jan. 21, 2009 and is still active
If they banned ecigs, would you stockpile?

:2c:

Well, Petrodus, I'm one of those who are stocking up, but in my case it's more a precaution against excessive taxation (spend now to save in the future) than against an outright ban. That being said, I will definitely be in the front line fighting unreasonable regulation! There are always workarounds, but there is also a time to stand up and be counted.

Love your attitude!! I hope it is contagious! I wasn't speaking of us panicking, as much as I was lawmakers and soccer moms who will insist on protecting the children. Yes some here will panic as well. I am with you, I have stockpiled enough to last long after the dust settles. Having said that, I am ready and able to kick some serious buttocks too!!! There are far too many smokers we have to convert before all is said and done!

I getcha, 2coils. The ANTZ certainly have whipped legislators up into a frothy panic over ecigs, manufacturing a "public health crisis of epic proportions" where none existed before they (the ANTZ) noticed that ecigs were spelling doom to their livelihoods. The ANTZ (those devious little insects) are also using the mainstream media to foster what mkbilbo calls their "e-cig bad, go boom like bomb, run scared, hide children, everybody die" stories, which are turning soccer moms into maternal ecig-hating rambos to protect their credulous flavor-craving offspring.

That being said... A lot of vapers here on ECF are indeed panicking. I don't blame them. I can simply offer my advice, that fighting the good fight is more productive than running around like a headless chicken. Speaking up is more likely to produce the desired result than planting head in sand. Whining only produces a sore throat.
