Did you start out with an ego? Might be easier for her to start out with an 808 kit. Smokeless image has 2 kits under $60 and they come with some prefilled cartos too. You can even throw in a couple battery/carto wraps and comfort tips. Maybe you can trade some juice you didn't care for for some tobacco juice here on ECF.

Never tried smokeless image, but I've heard they are good and don't require much tinkering. Could be good, if more expensive option over an Ego style.

Smokeless Image's 808 Volt batteries are very good and reliable. I switched to them after starting with another company after receiving a recommendation from someone else. I've been very pleased with SI, and their customer service is incredible! I also like the selection of colors and sizes and switch types for their batteries. Love the bling. On one of my first orders, they were out of stock of a color of battery I wanted, so they substituted a different color and said they would send my original choice to me as soon as it was back in stock. They did, and they did not request the substitution battery be returned. I got a free battery, they got a customer for the long term.

Also, once someone is ready to start stepping up from the regular 808, Smokeless Image's X2 battery is a "big battery" that uses the 808 cartomizers as well as the new clearomizers (and their clearomizers will work with their regular batteries, too, just looks funny). Nice stepping stone without breaking the bank or worrying about adapters or switching brands. I have both the X2 and regular batteries and I'm going strong with them, love them both. And, Smokeless Image's liquids have good flavor, too. They have lots happening right now, so I suspect there will be even more reasons to check them out in the future.

But yeah, your suggestion of Smokeless Image is a good one, the their $45 kit is the way to go for someone just starting. I also found that a lot of new vapers, if like me, smoked for enough years before making the switch that the ritual of the cigarette was needed more than the actual nicotine and throat hit, etc. After almost 40 years, the ritual of feeling a cigarette in my fingers while I had my morning coffee and read the paper, or the hand to mouth satisfaction after a big meal, etc., was making me more nervous than no smoke or nicotine. So, the 808 style battery is what I always recommend first, and then I let others recommend mods or other batteries that do not look like cigarettes. Once they make the switch and they like and are ready to step into other areas of vaping, then I'll recommend the X2 from Smokeless Image as a good next step. After that I can't make any recommendations because I haven't gone beyond the point of the X2. I've no desire to, I like my X2 and my regular batteries both. Lots of accessories available at Smokeless Image, too, with more on the horizon.

I've had two converts using two ego batteries, the Ego mega dual coil cartomizer (EMDCC), and one using the vision stone 3 tank from Gotvapes. These are usually what I recommend due to ease of filling. That's what most newbies worry about from what I can tell, and the big bore of the EMDCC and wide channels on the stone make it very simple.
