I'm using the cyclone from viscous ant and I can't seem to get the coil far enough from the posts. Maybe I'm just being picky but if the coil is too close I get burnt hits or maybe it's too much throat hit but if I go too far it's heating up the top cap way too much. And my coil is at an angle, meaning the positive post has more distance from the coil than the negative post. Any ideas to get it straightened out and further from the posts without touching or heating up the top cap too much??

Burnt hits are usually a wicking issue rather than coil placement, and too much TH can be a few things, but allied to what strength your juice is. The coil looks ok to me - i like mine a little straighter and so i just tighten one post, reposition it and then the other.

There is still a little leeway to brutalise the coil where you want it even with both posts screwed down.

I have been building one of mine with the legs going into opposite sides of the post. It is a little bit of a pain to get in at first but I like the angle it gives me for my wick.
You have to bee very careful to cut the excess kanthal that sticks through the posts so as not to have a short. Once built it allows the wick to rest evenly on the deck.

Coil placement looks spot on. I have not used the SS top cap so i cant speak to the heating issue you are having. I dont see why the hot top cap issue would be concerning unless you are also using a SS drip tip and burning your lips. If so maybe use a delrin tip or something along the mystic atmos style with the teflon coating.

I'm giving up on the cyclone for a while. Back to the RM2 for now. It's just so much easier and consistant, however I will miss the look of the cyclone and the push on cap instead of the threads. I hope we get a RM3 soon...

Well! If that's a BF cyclone, and you don't want it anymore... let me know ;)

Dconnor do you have a video showing how to do the coil like that? I've tried but haven't had much luck lol

I don't sorry. What I do is leave the legs a little longer. I leave the drill bit in the coil and put the positive leg through the "back side". Push it through enough to grab with tweezers, and then put the other leg through the negative post slightly. Make sure the kanthal on the positive post is above the longer leg leading to the negative post.
I position the coil where I want it, and pull the positive leg tight, and then tighten the screw.

Cut off excess wire from the positive post. I leave a bow in the negative wire and pull excess through and trim. You have to trim very close and I push up any tiny bit to sit against the post. This is where a short is possible if you are not careful.
It is definitely a tougher build and at the point where you are threading the wires through it is in almost a pretzel shape. I hold the coil and bit with my thumb and pull the wire through with some hemostats.

I use 28 ga so it is pretty sturdy and I use a 5/64" drill bit so it re wicks pretty easily.
I also use an infinity coil on another of mine and that is very easy to build because the split coil lines up with the posts better.
I have to say I really like the bowl shaped decks on these.

Can't say for sure, but in your 2nd pic your coil looks like it is higher off the deck than coils I put in my Cyclone. That could be why you are getting more TH. My coils are almost touching the deck. I hold the atty up to the light while I am placing them to make sure they are as close as possible to the deck. I will try to take some pics of how mine look and post them later. As to the top cap heating up, that is just because of the SS top cap. It will retain heat for awhile after a few hits. It is just the nature of SS. Mine gets really hot after about 3 hits and it takes a couple minutes for it to cool back down. I do usually run around a .9Ω coil for the most part. What are you running yours at?

Here's how I built mine:

I initially had the same problems you were having so I decided to move the coil away from the negative post. The entire build is as an exact copy (including position) as I can get of my RM2 build. Moving it away from the negative post gave me a bit more room from the cap, and helped me lower the cap's temperature a bit.

However, because the Cyclone is made out of stainless steel and because of its relatively small chamber, it will heat up fast. I find the vape quality does suffer a bit when the atty starts heating up so I try to space my draws a bit more or squonk more often (every two hits). I also release the button earlier while drawing to help cool the cap down if I'm chaining it.

I hope this helps.

I finally got around to be able to post some pics of the build on my Cyclone. Never realized until after I took the pics I put the coil on upside down.... Oh well, it vapes exceptionally well as is. As you can see I have it slammed down to the deck so I get better taste from it. This is a 27g 8/9 1/16" .9Ω micro coil and the vape is very good. Awesome taste and great clouds to boot... This is after about a week and 5 or 6 dry burns to clean up the coil and XC. Here are the pics...
