Good posts. I agree with everything but the diameter being too big. IME larger wire needs a larger diameter on the wind to hold enough juice. This way the wick doesn't go dry mid pull.

What you need to be concerned with is wire length. This means less winds on the coil as the diameter increases.

@ 2.5 mm on 22 gauge I would shoot for 4 wraps and single coil... especially with that rebranded LG HE2 cell.

I run duals @ 24 gauge @ 3mm @ 4 wraps and they work just fine. Ramp up instantly.
True that less wraps at that diameter would decrease the ramp up time. But You will also lose a bit of surface area. I wrap them micro and if wicked correctly I never get a dry hit mid pull. I have always found that smaller diameter worked better for me when using 22g. But since this is a new builder. I still suggest moving to 26g while learning. 22g is just asking for headaches and problems.

I agree..26ga is also very useful for macro coils. More surface area there and wicks a bit better than micros. It's a learning curve even now for me as I only use to build micro coils.

26ga macro coils 8 wraps on a 1/8th drill @ 0.60 ohms

Was just thinking in the interim. While he's waiting on thinner wire.

Definitely agree to start off higher gauge.
