I've been trying to build my first coils since yesterday. I always just used pre builts, but with the tank I figured I'd use the 2 pre built coils it came with, wick them and use them. Ran threw the both of those so yesterday I tried making my own but I keep getting check atomizer when I go to test them. My coils aren't over lapping it doesn't seem like and it looks like it should work. No different than the ones that came with it that I used as a template. And I mounted the last ones fine so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with these. I did order a 2nd copper RTA deck from a guy on ebay. I currently have one of the prebuilt coils in the other one I'm using right now. Maybe the guy sold me a faulty one? I guess I should try setting it up in there to see if it works. Can anyone spot anything I did wrong?

The coil looks good to me. Once I had an issue with a coil where the extra wire that gets clipped off outside the screws was left a little long and caused an issue. (The barrel has a tight tolerance , contact was made)

If it were me I would clip the extra wire and fire it to check for hot spots, then wick and use.

I don't have that tank, but that coil looks fine. @Sir2fyablyNutz is probably right. I will bet it's grounding out, either from the tail contacting the barrel, or from the coil being so tall it hits the chimney. Good job on the coil, BTW. You should have seen the first one I did :)

On the RBA itself you will run into this problem. The bottom of the RBA unit itself could be loose. Stick the small screw driver you got with the kit in the bottom holes and tighten it firmly making sure to not move the position of the coil holders up top. I have four Kanger mini's and have become and expert on the RBA's as all mine are RBA's.

Hey everyone thank you for all of the great feedback. Sorry it took so long for me to reply, the other coil is still going so I haven't been worried about it but I need to get a new one in there asap so I'm back to this issue! I'm going to go through the list of everything you guys suggested and see if I can get this thing firing. I'm hoping the guy on ebay didn't send me a dud rba, if I clip the wires and make sure the rba unit itsself is tight and it still doesn't fire. I'm going to swap the coil over to the rba that came with my kit and see if it'll fire. Going to test this out tomorrow, hopefully it will work!

You are probably just using the wrong wire and the ohms ends up being too low for your mod.

Get some 28 gauge kanthal.
