Coil resistance, and wire gauge.

Theoretically if I had two coils that were the same size with the same number of loops but one was 32 gauge and one was 35 gauge kanthal wire which one would have the lowest resistance?

in theory, the thinner the wire the higher the resistance... so 35g is smaller than 32g, thus the 35g will have higher resistance.

I believe the 32 ga. would be lower.

(Others with better experience will chime in and correct me if i'm wrong. )

That's what i was thinking but I wanted to be sure, I'm shooting for the biggest coil possible at about 2.2 ohms.

32AWG (American Wire Gauge) thicker wire, lower resistance

35 AWG thinner wire, higher resistance

I just made a few coils 32 gauge 5 wraps and they came out to 2.0 - 2.1 Ω

That's what I usually make or 6 wraps at 2.5 but I'm getting a vamo v3 and want to have some coils that will give me a little room to play with at 3.6 volts.

If you get Confused with it just remember Thicker wire is harder to heat up, so thinner wire is easier to heat up.
