Howdy Team:

I want to learn how to use my Kooper mod and Goliath Atomizer correctly. I'm trying to build my coils and I must be doing something wrong.

The min ohm is 0.08
The max watt is 200.0
I use 2x 18650 eFest batteries

I'm trying to buy prebuilt coils or buy A1 wire but the gauge I'm unsure of which is best.

I know that 24 gauge wire has a lower resistance than 32 gauge which will have a higher temp.

What wire would be best? My single 26 gauge wire coil seems to be too small and I barely get a cloud on my quad-coiled atomizer. I tried using 4 coils of 26 gauge twisted (2 x 26g wires twisted into 1 coil) and my mod said the ohm was too low.

I'm confused.

Need help for I'll admit, I'm dumb to this.

Thank you in advance.

Check out Steam Engine | free vaping calculators that should get you started on how to correctly build for your device. Honestly, I started with simple round SS wire builds at about 0.8--1.0 ohms. EVERYTHING is going to change (resistance-wise) depending on the type of wire you use (e.g. kanthal, SS, whatever) as well as the gauge of wire, and thicker wire is going to be harder to heat up, and if you are working with two coils, the final resistance will be halved (I know, it makes no sense) so playing around with steam-engine is a great way to get an idea of what you need, and how many wraps you need.

Best of luck, and there are some informative posts in the rebuildable atomizer section of the boars that you may wish to check out.

Welcome to ECF, good luck moving forward.

Is this the goliath rta by ulde ? Personally I would use single 26g and forget the twisted...so do 2 coils, both 26g , both about 2.5 to 3 mm inside diameter depending on the size of deck. Make each coil about .8 ohms, which should be about 7 wraps (but check steam engine). This should give you a total resistance of .4 ohms...your twisted dual coil is divided x 4, so you definitely got an even lower resistance from your current set up...the most important thing to get clouds and flavor is the wicking. Your wicking needs to be fairly tight, so you have full contact with coil. Also the wick tails needs to be the correct lenght and placed correctly. I am not familiar with that tank, so you need to look at videos on the wicking..some tanks require a good amount of cotton in coil, but then you may need to trim the tails, so you don't Block off juice flow. ...another important thing with dual coils is to get them exact, so they glow together with no hot spots ( if doing contact coils) also coil placement is very important, if air is from bottom, you need the coil not to hi or to low

Your problem is too much wire mass. Quad 26ga coils would take forever too heat up to vapor temp. Ditch the quads and recalc your coils for duals, or switch to 30ish ga wire for quads. Here's a test to see if I'm right: push the button and hold it 3-4 secs before taking your hit. If you get more vapor like that, you know the coils weren't getting hot enough fast enough to give you a vape. The ohms reading too low might be one of your coils grounded out on the body of the attomizer, or maybe you just didn't wind enough loops. You don't say what resistance you are shooting for, but quads can be hard to balance. Remember, in a multi coil system, all the coils must be of equal resistance, and the total resistance is resistance per coil divided by number of coils. In a quad system, if you wanted a .5Ω coil set, you'd have to wind 4 x 2Ω coils. That is, as I have said, a huge amount of wire to heat up. Really, you'll do better with a single or dual set.

Savvy Steam Engine? It's a coil calculator. Use it, and pay attention to the heat flux box on the lower right. Try to fiddle with it until you get a coil set with a heat capacity at or under 75 mJ/K (under 50 is better for faster heat times) and a mod setting yielding a heat flux of 150-250 mW/mm².

Welcome to the board.

Sweet, Thank You Anna. I will definitely hit up the calculator for I think it will save on medical bills from exploding batteries :)

Welcome and glad you joined.
Looks like you need to build to your taste requirements. The information below may lead you in the right direction.
Might like to read some comentarys on sub-ohm vaping:

See if this makes sense:

Think of the wire as a hose and electrons as water. The larger the diameter of the wire/hose, the more electrons/water can fit through.

Think of coils as paths and the electrons as soldiers. The more coils/paths the electrons/soldiers can follow, the more soldiers can get to the front.

My mantra for coil building has been the K.I.S.S. principle. (Keep It Simple, Stupid)

No disrespect, but you're a noob to coil building and most likely sub-ohm vaping. Forget about the fancy exotic coil builds for the time being, there will be plenty of time for that in the future should you decide to go in that direction. For the time being, get a firm understanding of the principals of Ohm's Law as it relates to vaping.

In the beginning, focus on perfecting simple coils, whether it be dual or single. As your knowledge and skills improve, then experiment and further your new hobby.
