So, this is the second time this has happened. Cleaned the coil and let it dry over night. Did a two second dry burn and cleaned the coils off. Wicks are clean, tanks is clean, all looks good. First hit with some Tribeca on my vv @3.8ish, giving a burnt taste. I checked the ohms, good @ 2.4. Somewhere somethings burning, but I have no idea where. Any help would be nice.

Thanks!

Maybe letting the wicks soak longer will help. Another possibility is that the top/flavor wick is still retaining some old gunk - I swap them out when I dry burn. One other possibility is that if the dry burning was too extensive, the insulator/grommet around the post is singed. Good luck figuring this out!

I let my tanks and coils dry for 12 hours on a clean shop rag and they are as dry as a bone (no need for a dry burn). I then fill them and let them soak for another 12 and haven't had an issue with a burnt taste or muted flavor. Granted, it's a 24 hour process but I manage it pretty well with only two tanks (third one is in the mail).

<------wondering if I'm the only one not dry burning Triton wicks. Never had a burnt hit yet.

I never dry burn wicks either. I feel there's no point. If you clean them, and are patient enough to let them dry and reabsorb ejuice, there is no purpose to dry burn.

After many attempts to clean wicks... soaking them in vodka/pga (I can get 190 proof in Texas), rinsing them in hot water, pulling the wicks and spot cleaning, nothing seems to renew the life of the wicks back to new. They always seem to run their course and cache out after use. Circle of life.

Post cleaning, the wicks often fray and fall apart and become un-usable pretty quickly. Even successfully cleaned wicks seem to taint the liquid a darker color far quicker than fresh coil/wicks, and that is never tasty. There's no replacement for swapping in a fresh coil @ $2.50 a pop.

This is, of course, heavily dependent on what juice you are using, and I am open to cleaning suggestions, however none so far have been worthwhile.

I pretty much clean as you do. I run hot water right from faucet in the empty tanks, rinse them out then run the water over the wicks for a bit. Then fill sink with hot water, drop everything in, take small condom off the coil, drop them in (condoms and coil) and drip tips. I gently squeeze wicks over an over and drag and swish them around the water.

I soak them all for around 30 mins and every five minutes, I drain some water and keep refilling with hot. After 30 mins, everything gets a cold rinse and put all on paper towels to dry over night. I get a few frayed coils, but still use them until they are super frayed. And if the flavor wick has a burnt spot, I toss the flavor wicks.

I honestly have never had issues cleaning. I've only had 2-3 coils that didn't turn white again after cleaning. I haven't had residue taste of previous flavors and no off tastes. I do clean my coils often and i do vape dark, thick juices like Voodoo.

I have not used vodka or dental tabs. Maybe these wear down the wicks faster? I don't know.

My 2nd halo tank was D.O.A & halo is dodging my support ticket for a replacement...... It leaked out like 2 ML of my of tribeca.. Has any1 ever had halo to send a replacement?

Halo is short-staffed due to the massive winter storm in the North East. if you've put in a ticket, send a PM to Cinder Ella to see if she's able to look into it for you.

My tank was leaking in between the metal band and the tank, below the 0 ml mark. Halo said they'd replace it free of charge but I didn't want to go through the trouble lol. It's been going strong for over a month now. Sorry to hear you're having issues.
