Coil-Wick Hybrid, if you will...

Alright folks, I had a pretty random idea earlier but got really busy and couldn't put much more thought into it. Now as I lay me down to sleep I'm feeling kinda restless, mind racing a little so I figured I'd just put it out there and read some feedback in the morning.
Was just going through a discussion RE: Magic Mundy's twisted kanthal ribbon. For the unaware: Magic Mundy Wire is basically one piece of 0.6 X 0.07 kanthal ribbon twisted, thirded, then reverse twisted back on itself.
This is when I got to thinkin: before reverse twisting the ribbon back on itself, what would happen if you slipped a piece of wicking material between the three sections first?
Essentially, you could just run the wire from post to post in some configuration, wet the coil-wick hybrid, and be all set to go.
I'm sure someone long before me had this idea and there are probably a multitude of setbacks for suck a setup so is like to open it up for discussion; or, if said discussion already occurred, if you wouldn't mind pointing me in that direction.
Ideally, if you could get a twisted ribbon / wick hybrid with high enough resistance, would it not be possible to just run a single piece from post to post in a sorta U configuration (make sense?). Changing coils/wicks would then be as simple as popping out the old and quickly running a new. No more having to wrap coils, fire, compress, adjust, thread... yada yada yada.
Alright folks, I'll stop rambling. Someone please come along and crush my dreams :)

Please try it. I tried not that ↑. Rather I tried wrapping the cotton in parallel with the wire as I wrapped my coil. Did both a micro-style and a nano/dragon-style. It needed more fooling around with. It wasn't great; but I got the feeling it could be done if one were to tweak on it and keep trying little variations.

I'm getting the feeling I would have to use a wider diameter ribbon in order to get the folds to interlock when adding the extra material in between.
That's a pretty cool idea above as well. Were you getting any hot spot issues? That's all I keep thinking is how so you work out the hot spots when you can't dry burn with cotton...?

I'm thinking about ekowool in 1mm diameter wrapped between two 30 gauge wires. Thought I'd pick some up and try a few things. Including a micro stuffed with ekowool, Wrapped between the wires, and maybe even pull 32 gauge braided the wire through the ekowool. If anyone has tried these things let me know how it worked and any pointers would be well received.

no hotspots. Maybe just got lucky. But your right, there'll be no dry burning. Having used Nextel in the past, I also wouldn't dryburn away at that. It can be torch cleaned; but I always needed to manipulate it aftewards, to make sure it was still solid. (at a certain level of heat exposure, the nextel does start to disintegrate . . .. and you wouldn't know when, if it was all bundled in there)

I remember trying that so I looked it up.
Tried wrapping cotton into magic 8/20/2013 and it was a fizzle.
At least in the particular coil I tried.
Virtually no vapor was produced and no throat hit, although I did note that it had massive flavor.
Also noted that it took 4 to 5 seconds for the juice to boil off to the point it makes the flavor.
That was with a 2/3 .8 ohm coil wound on a 1.55 form with cotton pulled through it.

Not saying it might not work in some other setup, but that was my experience.
