The other day I was noticing diminishing taste and vapor on my RM2 so I pulled the cap off and to my surprise I found that the wick was in 2 pieces and laying on the deck. This got me thinking and that night I found a video on YouTube about wickless coils. I thought what better platform for this but a REO? I will add a link to the video when I'm on my computer as my iPad doesn't play well with linking video.
I twisted up some of the recommended coil today to try it and have to say I'm very impressed.

There is no wick whatsoever, nothing to add or dilute flavors, dry burn and squonk or change flavors on the fly with no need to replace your cotton. Sorry for the bad pics but it is cloudy today and the iPad doesn't take great pics without plenty of natural light.
Im not sure if this will replace cotton for me but it's looking promising. The RM2 is a great platform other than being a little small. I had to drill out the wire holes in the posts to fit such a large gauge, drilled to 1/16th, and wrap it on a smaller mandible to fit it all under the hood. It meters out at between .2-.3 ohms what're I would ideally like to be at .4.
The wire itself is dual 24 gauge Kanthal wrapped tight with a strand of 28 wrapped around that with a little space between wraps. The video will walk you through it when I can get it linked.
I've never tried Mundys Magic ribbon but would imagine it would be perfect for this application.
