Hi all,

To lighten up the moods and to apologise for my bluntness recently...here's something that I love to share with local vapers.

http://www.zibbet.com/FallenAngelBrass/artwork?artworkId=1353400

It's mentioned in the international forums and I managed to find it locally.

I've been using it and boy, the coils you get is really nice and tight...the only problem is they only carry the 1.5mm and 3mm rods here in SG. :p

Let's share what other tools you have and use for making coiling less of a nightmare.. :)

Personally, I use a 1.4mm and a 1.6mm diameter precision screw driver. Nothing fancy on that. Wraps are done with 28gauge and I get pinpoint accuracy with each coil. All my coils are nice and tight, but after a few mins of adjustment while red hot, I get to drop 0.1 to 0.2ohms on average. :D

Main tool you need is the virtue of patience. Never rush to get tight coils, and never rush to make them tighter.

I have personally shown several members here how to set up a dripper build. And the tools are really simple and the process of coiling and wicking takes no more than 5 odd mins. If you take things slow, you spend less time getting it right.

Now, let me wait for my vapemail. I have a stillare clone and a valkyrie clone on route. :D time to put the VTC5 to the test with dual parallel coils at 0.3!

Another thing very useful for older vapers is a loupe.

I can't stress how much this helps me in adjusting and make sure the coils are tight...old man like me can't really see very well when the miserable coil is 1.5mm in diameter and 30 guage.

Thanks for sharing! Will refer back to this when i get into modding

Try to get a simple dripper for starters and devour YouTube on the tutorials on coil building. I started modding 1 week after I started vaping cos the clearos and protanks fail on me, with the constant leaking and burnt hits.

Now I have 1 dripper and 3 Kayfuns...loving them.

Drippers have to be oiled very frequently? from my understanding, it seems troublesome, but i also read that it gives off better vapour and easier for people who switch flavours often..

No need to oil ... your juices are already oiling them as you vape from the dripper. :) It's not troublesome compared to the headaches you get from clearos or protanks. Vapor and flavour is definitely better. If you are in the east, can meet up sometime and have a "show and tell" session...hehe

Those work very well....I got the deluxe model and it has a size close to 1/16" which is great.....I bought some drill rod stock wire at a local constuction supplies store and fabbed a duplicate winder for a slightly larger diameter....da bomb.

There is nothing to apologise about, you are just being careful, sometime just relax for a little but do not trust anyone.

For coiling with PT, usually I coil using 18G needles.

i do work in the east! Would be great to learn more..

I just googled for Kayfun, and seems like alot of good reviews for it.. Might get a kayfun mini or lite to start off my modding! Let me read up more on it..

Lai Lai Lai. East side Vape meet is mandatory. :D I'll have my Vape mail later today, so I can also "show and tell" a little. :D

Another tip when coiling is to use a round tip needle nose plier. Those work wonders in getting around tight places when you build your coil and wick. The smaller contact surface (tangent to whichever surface you are working on) allows your adjustments to be very precise, especially when you need just that little nudge to bring your coils together when you dry burn.
Good lighting is also necessary. Always work somewhere bright and have a table top at an accessible height. I like to build my dripper on my mod and not on the ohm meter. My coils are pretty constant every time I build so I don't have to constantly monitor resistance change. I find that building with the mod attached gives you more dexterity since the dripper is so small.
Another tip when building is to keep the screw driver (or whatever you use to coil around) attached to the coil when you install. Tightening the screw posts have a nasty tendency to warp your pretty coils and leave your room reeking of vulgar remarks. The screw driver acts as a guild to prevent warp and vertical play as you install, and is especially handy when you are building dragon coils since you need to tilt the coil.

Pretty coils doesn't entail good VTF. You need to know how the coil performs and wick accordingly. Excessive wick can clog your coil and give you a nasty dry hit if you don't monitor the wetness of your wick. If you don't know what's a dry hit, try taking a drag from your neighborhood joss paper burner during Qing Ming. Never ever pack your cotton too tightly at the coils, you can trust my experience with that. :D

just saw some videos on the Kayfun and Taifun.. Damned!! i am hooked!! Hahaahahaha!! Love the way its built and how you can do up your own wick, and also allows you to clean it up nicely!

In the long run, i think they should be more cost savings as compared to those disposable clearomizers...

I might get a clone Kayfun to start with though, just to have some experience with it!
