Coils----- does size matter

Does the size of the coil have any effect on the ohms. Does 6 wraps of kanthal wraped @ 5/32 have more or less ohms than a wrap @ 7/32.

The resistance is proportional to the length of the wire. A larger diameter means you need longer wire to achieve the same number of wraps. You can use the calculator in my signature (go to the coil wrapping tab) to play around with the inner diameter and other values, and see how they affect the result.

My wife tells me size doesn't matter. My ohm calculator tells me it does.

It's all in the technique. Often it's all in the wrist. How you twist your wrist.

But yeah, coil diameter will affect resistance.

Larger diameter = more wire used = higher resistance. (using the same wire gauge)
