Hi @busrider and welcome to the forum. Coils will get gunked up with the use of sweet or dark juices faster than clear ones. Applying too much power to the coil can "toast" the cotton wick and make the coil useless as well. Proper prime of the coil before use can prolong the coil as well. (a drop or two down the chimney of the coil, and soak all the exposed cotton wicks/areas). Then fill tank and let sit for 5 minutes. Take a few UNPOWERED draws (I cover the air holes to get more suction) before taking a powered hit. The first hit should be lower than normal, working your way up to the normal power setting.

I've heard the coils for that tank can be rebuilt but I have no experience with them. It might be worth looking into an upgrade of gear.

It would help the experts answer if they knew exactly what mod/battery you are using and what the ohms are of the coil, and what power setting you are using.

The coils don't seem to last very long and I don't know how to read build them. Kanger genitank mega
If you are going to be a life long vaper there are two things that are inevitable. DIY and rebuilding. You can put it off but sooner or later you'll be doing them.

My favorite vape comes from the freshest possible build. I use rda's exclusely partly because I can rewick in 5 minutes, which I might do every 3-4 days, and rebuild in 15 minutes, which I do every 7-10 days. One of the ways I use DIY is to make liquid that doesn't gunk up coils very fast. Using a minimum amount of flavoring is the secret. Another way to slow down gunking of coils is dilute your commercial e liquid with unflavored DIY that has the same percent of PG, VG, an nic as the commercial liquid. You might find you can dilute your e liquid 1 part to 3 parts unflavored DIY and still get good flavor. Unflavored DIY shouldn't cost more than about 1 cent per ml to make so you'll save money and your coils should gunk up slower.

I use a 32 ga. Kanthal at 5 turns around a .078 Diam bit-- 2 ohms (6.6w). No problem. Coils last for month or two in a Magma or Origen V2 RDA (I change them when I can not get them clean anymore or they break when inserting rayon).

Well then, the question is your juice. As was stated earlier, sweeter. darker juices will foul a coil much faster than a most light juice. Your vaporizing sugar and other type sweeteners which build up gunk fast.

Point in case: I run, lets say...a few tanks daily and their identical tanks and builds. My darker peanut butter and chocolate flavors need rebuilding every few days. One juice, A watermelon liquor, hasn't seen a new coil in over a month and still tastes amazing. There are so many factors.

More info would really help diagnose whats happening.

some last a week and some 3 days, the higher i have to turn up the power to get a good hit

I would say it's the juices then for sure. I would learn how to build to keep spending on new coils down. I haven't purchased a coil for any of my subtanks in months.

You have to increase power because it's not as efficient as it was new and clean.

There's a ton of info here on building just about anything. It's a learning curve, but once the basics are covered (mainly battery safety). It gets better and faster.

i have vanilla custard with a yellow cake at 12 % nic. and they r darker than my pomegranate at 12%nic.i also mixed them in the tank when it got low for a different taste.i just bought this tank, and i been using a kanger pro 2.i was having the same trouble with not lasting long and getting the burnt taste.

The solutions are e liquid with less flavoring and/or ultra cheap coils by building your own. Learn how to get the vape you want with those two and you'll get a higher quality experience a higher percentage of the time. The money saved will more than paay for any extra fiddling time. The thing I care most about is throat hit. That seems to be best with a fresh wick and coil,, when I can hear just a bit of sizzle off the coil. I'm still tinkering and experimenting, learning how to do it better.

You need to upgrade the gear.

If you mouth to lung hit I'd suggest the Aspire Nautilus Mini (no rba to make your own coils-factory coils only). If you straight lung hit I'd suggest looking at some of the Kanger Starter kits like the Subbox (rba and factory coils available).

I've used these U.S. vendors (usually 4 days order to delivery):
www.myvaporstore.com (New York)
www.originvape.com (New York)
www.vapeNW.com (Washington State)
www.vapesupersaver.com (Georgia)

www.madvapes.com (Carolinas)
www.gotvapes.com (Texas)
www.rockymountainvapor.com/ (Colorado)

China
www.fasttech.com (2 week delivery)
www.heavensgifts.com (excellent service/DHL shipping is under 5 days to hand)

Chances are that your commercial juices are over sweetened and thats what's killing your coils. The sugars make a cocoon of burnt around the coil thus having to heat the cocoon before vaporizing the juice and burnt taste follows. In my year of DIY juice I found this out very early how sweet commercial juices really are, I can no longer vape any of them. My DIY Hangsen tobaccos have no added sweetener so I can easily go 3+ weeks on a build before the wicking poops out, like stated before I can also rewick in a few minutes or rebuild. I like running a low ohm subtank or TFV4 coil at a lower wattage to produce great flavor(.5 ohm at 25 watts)
I have also learned that low ohm thick wire coils need a bit of ramp up time before you take your vape (especially at lower watt setting), blow down slowly till you see nice vape come out the airflows then take your hit and when finished I still vape unpowered for a couple seconds after to cool the coil down so excess juice doesn't sit on the coil then burn.
Learn to rebuild or revamp those PT2 coils and once learned, the PT2 coils will set the stage for rebuilding other attys.

The short answer (which is not friendly, I would admit) is to buy a newer technology tank where the coils are better in every way.

I would get 4 days max using 2013/14 Kanger coils.
I can get 10 days at twice the power with Eleaf or Aspire. (GS/BVC)

Sure, you can dry-burn and re-wick Kanger coils, but I got bored of that on day 433 and decided just to throw all that in the trash.
