RSST was my first rba and now that I have a couple more (Romuluz and Steamboy) I had a question that just occurred to me: On an atomizer that isn't insulated like the RSST, will the coil glow brighter at the top and get dimmer as it goes down or should it still be nice and even all the way to the bottom leg?

a year ago, i had lots of issues building my first genny. i thought i had every problem in the book. but getting a short from the wick hole....dont think i ever ran across that one.

I've always thought when I get a short somewhere on the coil (top coil at first with a new wick) it's shorting through the wick to the deck which is ground. So it's not really the wick hole causing the short, but the short circuit is through it. Make sense?

Insulated wick hole is a bit of an unnecessary crutch. Point is not to have your coil shorting on your wick. Once that is taken care of, your wick wont short to the atty anyway.

I've never tried an RSST, but an insulated wick hole is a crutch I wouldn't mind having if it works :thumb:

I agree with muzichead, all coils will glow pretty evenly when they're done right. I do frequently notice the bottom 1/2 coil in my AGA-T will be a little darker than the rest, but it doesn't seem to be an issue. I used to think it was shorting there, but I'm now convinced that's not the case.

Here's a great tutorial on setting up the AGA-T that's applicable to any Genisis atty.

Same deal here the wick hole is a non issue same with the wick touching the bottom of the tank.

Yeah touching the bottom of the tank wasn't a known issue for me either. But as ryedan points out, there could be hidden factors at play. IDK. What I do know is that I'm now damn good at setting up gennys. I used to dread it. Now I enjoy it. I can get a genny pumpin lickety split.
