Coils with chemical taste

Hello. I have been a vaper for 2 months.

I found very cheap coils on ebay (i actually thought it was just the coil metal without wick/resistance) but they have a very (very!) intense chemichal taste... It's impossible to use them. From what I could find online, I think it's some kind of manufacturing residue.

So far I have tried: water (hot, warm, cold), alcohol 2 times (it came out yellow) and vinegar (I did this today I'm still waiting for the results).

I am an electronics engineer so I can make my own coils but for €0,4 I don't mind buying them done.

Can someone help me or should I just throw them away and buy originals or do my own?

Thanks. No need to check liquids, the coils actually smell a lot when i dry burn.

What setup are you using these coils in? If you're using a rebuildable atomizer of some kind then just get some kanthal and do it yourself imo.


What are the coils made of? Kanthal? Nichrome? Something else? Depending on what setup you're using you can try to dry burn the coils a bit but... I would just toss them personally. The words "cheap" and "off ebay" worry me.

**Edit** if you've already dry burned them and they still give an off taste definitely toss them. Really not so hard to wrap your own..

Ive noticed from beginning, it not really matters the Kanthal or Nichrome, infact, Kanthal is Nichrome, Kanthal is just the brand.
Agree on your post to worry about the cheap coil from ebay.

Throw them away and build your own. Those coils always suck. They ship out with rdas and rbas from china and they're absolutely the worst. Anything you build will be 100x better.

I already have some kanger originals. That's not a problem.

I'm not using those I bought on ebay. But I have 15 coils so I don't want to give up.

I tried once to build my own but it tasted really bad. Maybe it was the wick or something.

I have a shop here that sells the wick and the wire. Noypi Wire and Biowick (from Jimdo). Is this any good?

Especially since your not exactly certain what is on them and weather or not it will leach into your juice or vaporize and you inhale it. I'd be on the safe side if you can't get them clean.

which kanger tank/coils are you using?

I have:
- 1 that came in my kit that has a T2;
- 7 EVOD and a ViviNova that have the same coil MT3(?);
- 1 iClear 30.

The coils I bought on ebay were the MT3.

Silica or just use 100% biologic cotton...

Biowick is supposed to be the best biologic cotton.

If I can't get them clean I will definitely throw them away. But they sold a lot of items so how can those people vape with that really bad taste?

Kanger coil heads are from 0.8Ohm till 2.5Ohm.

Maybe some issues with your iTaste is possible but I doubt, maybe someone who do have one know more about, but a chemical taste can never be good.
