So I started out on the ego system like every other noob, and have graduated in the PV world with a Provari within a few months. I love it, but now that I've had it, I see other PVs out there, and think "Man, I'd really love to have that...even if I'm not going to use it as a workhorse." I don't think I'd even like using a gripper style mod or Precise+, but for some reason I want them. The same goes for delivery systems (tanks, atomizers, etc). I'm not even sure I'll like RBAs, but I'm already looking into them as well.

How many of you collect PVs and such, knowing you won't use them all the time?
Do you collect just PVs? tanks/RBAs only?

It seems that there is a market for these items, especially high-end, so I don't see it as throwing money away if someone else wants limited edition, numbered items in the future and I enjoy them as well. If you have a collection that is worth a good chunk of change, please share and discuss!

I've been having fun collecting Silver Bullets lately. My first one was a chrome with black switch, then I picked up a black chrome. I've got all of the colors that I really like now, and even a few limited edition Silver Bullets, including the double barrel SB. My fave I think is the copper vein. The black chrome is pretty awesome, too! My twelfth Silver Bullet is on its way into my collection and should be here tomorrow. :D

As for tanks, I'm finding that I like hefty pyrex tanks a lot, so we'll see how that goes....

Well that kind of sparked it, but are they using everything for a certain purpose, or is just a collection?
I'm a left brained, functional, logical kinda guy, so buying something I don't use is fairly new to me. lol

Sounds like a helluva SB collection you have there!

I don't know much about the psychological aspect of 'collecting' per se, but it's kinda like when I used to buy lots of music CDs. Why stop at just one Smashing Pumpkins CD? I liked their music a lot and I ended up collecting dozens of their CDs, lots of rare stuff, too. I'm aware of the fact that some day, just like CDs, my pvs will become obsolete when the next big new thing comes out. But for now, it's an exciting hobby and at the very least, it's keeping me off the ciggys.

i'm currently on a quest to get all the high quality bottom button mechanical mods i can.
Currently doing a trade to get rid of my provari to receive a GP paps + other stuff for it.
currently saving up some money, once i get $800 saved up i plan on ordering all the P+.
after that, going to try and buy a zenesis, a GP piccolo, a caravela, and a megalodon.

Well my vape gear has changed as I changed. I started with a 510 set up with a PCC. The a few EGOs, then I realized dripping wasn't safe while driving at night or riding the trail, so I found bottom feeders, hello REOs. I tried a ProVari, but sold it. Then with the vaping ban scares, I got a few mechanical tube mods, and RBA and RBT. I am set now for the vaping holocaust if it ever comes. All I need to replenixh is mesh, wick and wire, batteries, and PG as I have nic juice stored in the freezer.

I think some of us are collectors by nature. I had over 1000 roses at one time, for instance.

I collect to try different ones or if they grab me with their beauty like the Caravela. Some of them I never use and some I use a lot.

Forgot to add, I also collect tips and tanks. Haven't started on the rebuildable attys, those are expensive and I am not sure I want to fiddle with them.

i also just received my first genesis style atomizer, and i believe i'm going to collect them once i have all the bottom button mod's i'm getting.
i plan on buying a ZAU, a cobra, a did, a mini did, a bliss, and any new genesis that comes out.

once i'm satisfied with bottom button mods I'm going to buy a GGTS, a penelope, and an odysseus.

i just got another raise (2 within 3 months) and now i'm really well equipped to buy the mods i want.

i also want a cleanvapes, a legacy, an opus, a VV reo gran, a vvpv, and a RSM, but those will be future investments and not immediate

Well I'm glad to hear making a list and checking it twice is an accepted practice. :)

I guess it is kind of materialistic, but I like modifying, fixing, and using things. I'm hoping that if I collect, I can find each unique nuance for each device and use it for its best ability.
This is what really sparked the topic, because while it is BEAUTIFUL, I wondered if they actually got used or if it is a pure collection.

i also want a teal provari, but that's for a later date..
i wish full sized provaris had the tear drop pattern

I agree. I like that my mini is portable, but in retrospect I would have ordered a regular for my FIRST one if it had the same design. I think a lot of people feel that way. Provape knows what they are doing...appealing to collectors...

Mine all get used in rotation tho I will admit I have bought several purely for their looks. I really like the fact that I have the complete Silver Bullet package, ie I have the basic unit, both the single and double head, and extension ring. My Chameleon from Scotland was my first "waiting list" mod and it gets use just about daily. My ProVari was my first high end mod and my Steampunk my first "custom" mod. I have several wood mods including a Lewis Gentry mod made from what amounts to a reel seat from a fishing rod...great for the fisherman in me. And then there are some I like for their ... well... silliness. You know, the fun mods like my Sin City can mods and my green box mod with green led and green led tank...got to be ready for St Paddy's Day after all

I also have a jones going for handblown glass tanks and drip tips. I really like that each is unique and one of a kind. Same with my Elegance and Gordy tanks.

Now I look at how unique a mod is, I just bought a Saber Touch that was custom turned on a lathe...doubt I will see another like it. My other Sabers are semi custom, one in Black Stardust and one a mini in glossy OD green with brass caps.

i think i will one day be an inadvertent collector.
i only have two mechanical apvs so far, but i do have my eye on a couple more for further in the future. when the p+ strata comes out, i'm going to try to get one asap. i've been watching gg from afar, but i really don't need a telescopic system, maybe just a stealth? but they are ridiculously hard to get your hands on.
i suppose i'm not really much of a collector, since i can wait for the acquisition of any item in my small collection. when starting research on pvs the gg and precise caught my eye right away, although i was horrified and confused at the price tag initially. remember the p+ coming out, and watched those for 8 months before getting one.
also, don't knock it til you try it! i wasn't sold on tanks until i bought my cheap first one, now i don't really want to meddle in anything unless it's a rebuildable. even then, the strata is the only one so far that has appealed to me, and because i have great faith in super t. so one day i might be considered a "collector" of some sort when i've acquired a couple more pvs, but it's kind of inadvertent. it'd just be nice to have a few high quality lifetime devices.

I plan on keeping them all. Big on backup since I had a battery die.
I started with a Ego Twist with the Ego tank (old tech) and a Clearo. I got a passthrough when my battery died. Got a Provari that I love even though it had to go into the shop. Can't wait to get that back. I now am very hooked on my Vivinova 2.5 large tank. Unless they come out with some really amazing inexpensive new mod I'm going to use my VV with my Provari and the others will be religated to hot standys.
