Some people do it for collection but most people have multiple PVs for different expirience.
Yes you can use one PV with different adapters but some want to use dedicated PVs.

Pretty much sums up how I look at it. I haven't stopped to count, but I've got at least a dozen and more likely more than that. I like to have them and I like how each one functions.

I only collect mechanical mods, i think spending a considerable amount of money on sealed battery mods is a waste of money as they're disposable, and mods with electronics will fail eventually.

I do use my KR8's a lot though for out and about but they're very cheap so that's all good.

Each pv has its place in my daily life.
My first was a Joye 510 standard starter kit (thank you ECF), and right behind it was a KR808D-1 from Vapor4Life. After researching I decided a cartomizer and an atomizer set up was the way to test out the waters and find out if I could swim in this newfound pond, so to speak.
Loved it, just loved vaping and it was working.

As I read more I kept seeing the word mod, what in the heck is a mod? A little more research and I ended up purchasing a Chameleon (ikenvape). It offered a base unit that took a 3.7v battery (separately purchased) and came with dedicated adapters that would allow me to try a 510/901/801/808d-1 atomizers/cartomizers and soon to add 510 cartomizers to that list. I also purchased the sleeve that now allowed me to try high voltage vaping. Followed by a 5v usb add on. Each decision/add on just made vaping better and better. At this point I dedicated my purchases to atomizers/cartomizers that were on sale. I had made a purchase that allowed me to vape pretty much across the board. This also came with a 1 year warranty; along with the best customer service to date.

Then I found David, (SuperT)-His unit offered something that the Chameleon did not. An all mechanical unit, button included. No wires and no soldering (sp). Dang! Really?
Watched for a while and asked a lot of questions. Purchased a P10 to check it out. The super6 was transitioning out and the new line was in force. I watched and read and read and watched and sent pm's, gathering all the info I could. Meanwhile, my P10 comes in and I Am Impressed. Truely a pv that needs nothing other than a wash here and there, some noalox and an atomizer. I should never need to return this bad boy for any reason what-so-ever. Well, the battery life is sad, a 10440 will get a steady 2 hours of enjoyment. So, I camp out and wait to read about the forth coming P-16 and P-18. David not only produces the exact same pv just with bigger battery capabilities, but adds a lifetime warranty on the all Stainless versions. SOLD, DONE. P-18 on it's way.

Somewhere in the middle of all the wonderfulness comes the Carlos Juice Box. Oh, my. A bottom fed with an 801 atomizer that will last for 4-6 months before needing replacement. Had to have one of those. Still have it, don't even think I ever broke in the atomizer. Dang thing nearly choked me to death using 12mg nic juice. My normal level was 36mg all the time, yet we had been warned to lowel the level cause it would kick your, well, you know.

Just the idea of a bottom feed and then having one in your hands, though imperfected was just, OMG. Can't someone do this and make it work. So, off to watching the boards, this site, other sites and back again.
I do an awful lot of driving and needed something that would work in the car. No, I did not want a passthrough, had one and it is not the same, not once you have tried a mod.
I was tired of fiddling/tweaking with carts and cartomizers and wanted something that when I was not in a position to fiddle, would work.
That's when I read about dripping. So, started dripping. Now this really taste good but could use some improvements. Dripping and Driving was not working. Back to bottom feed box mods.
Now mind you, in the middle of all this I am trying to find my go to e-liquid. Which I tried to start calling nicquid. Hey, sounded good to me and a few others! LOL.
Settle in with what I had and all was working except the driving issue. There were some others in the meantime that just didn't appeal to me.
Gave in and purchased a
Little Sister from the classifieds. Heck, this had variable voltage. Very nice indeed, but you shouldn't drip with the little sister. It leaks into the interior of the body. To get to try vv though was very nice. She has her place now and as long as she works, I will keep her. Cute and palm friendly. Hey, I can use up some of those 10440's I have stashed.
Then came Journeyman and the Phidias. All were news to me.

By the time I ordered the Phidias, from the actual maker, the Ali'i came out and was on the verge of variable voltage.
Received the Phidias, very, very nice bottom fed mod. Completely different from what I had tried before. This bad boy just might make it as the driving pv! The Phidias is what I am using currently.
Then I read that the VV Ali'i is ready and perfected, so here I sit, waiting for my Ali'i.
Of course, David had to come out with a VapeMate Juice Feeder that could work for driving with my P18.
I don't think it ever stops.
Somewhere in the middle, I picked up some Joye Egos, dang those whip the backends off the mega 510 batteries and not a bad price.
So here I sit wondering.........................WHAT NEXT?
Yeah, I know what next. Isaac with all his Ohms and resistance cartos and atties and HV and LR. Jeesh-someone help me, please.

Oh-I must add.
I have not purchased not one pair of shoes, not a dress, nor purse and have not colored my greys since this began. Have to point out that I am not spending MORE, it's the same expendature-just on different products.
That's my excuse and reasoning and I'm sticking to it.
Now, Isaac, what did you say about those new carto's? HE does have some of the best Customer Service out there.

I have a blu and a 510. I got the blu first. I didn't do much research, and I don't completely regret the purchase. I just wish that I'd looked around more. But even if I did, I probably would have thought the 510 was some crappy knockoff thing cuz it was just called a 510 and because of how cheap it is compared to a blu, volcano, sidesho, or magma. I couldn't seem to find a whole lot of different types of e-cigs when I searched until I came here and learned their names. That made it a lot easier to find things. I wasn't unhappy with my blu once i discovered dripping, but I still wanted to check out at least one other PV. I love my 510. I still love my blu(it tastes better in my opinion, the flavors are more intense and less burnt), but I don't use it nearly as much. Had I known about the 510 originally though, I would have just bought that because the starter kit I got was only $40, while the blu starter kit was $60. The 25 cartridges sounds good, but it really isn't. The juice in them is terrible, and cartridges are an inconvenient waste of time anyway. The PCC is nice, but I got a PCC for the 510 for $15, and I like it better too. It looks like an old clamshell style cigarette case as opposed to a pack of cigarettes. The 510 produces more vapor, holds more juice, and has longer battery life, and you can get an equal kit(minus cartridges) for about the same price. Since the 510 outperforms the blu, there's no reason to really get a blu since it costs the same once you buy a PCC for your 510.

I did a bunch of research about this time last year and ended up settling on the Joye 510, which was a good choice, I think. Had a dream run of luck with my first set of atties and batteries, quickly decided that I preferred dripping to messing around with cartridges, a few ups and downs with limited battery life and then bought a passthrough that solved a lot of problems (I spend a lot of time on my laptop).

Recently bought an eGo that has a passthrough attachment and frankly I think this is all I'm ever likely to need, at least until they come out with a SupereGo (with apologies to Dr. Freud). I'm not so much into collecting gadgets as a hobby ...

I got tired of paying $20 for a battery so I bought one where the batteries are replaceable for less.

Exactly, when you buy an ego, you basically get a battery and an atomizer.
I dropped 95 bucks shipped on a mini GLV and don't regret it one bit.
I have six batteries for it that cost under 3 bucks each !!

When my last two eGo batteries give out, I am done with them.
Mods might seem expensive until you figure out how long they last, and how cheap the batteries are.

My want list includes:
Super-T P-18
Ali'i
Reo Mini
etc...etc...etc :)

i have a joye510 and a riva510. all the attys and carts and cartos are compatible. so it comes down to the use of two skinny batteries and two fat ones. while im at work, i prefer to use the fat batts because i can just go on without fear of running out of power. but when hanging out or driving or generally in public, i prefer to use the skinny batts purely for aesthetic reasoning. other than that, i dont see a need to go on to collecting any more, except for the urge to buy more batteries for obvious reasons hahaha. but with the batts i have, i can smoke em all out but one, and while im puffin on that one, im charging the other three. i only need to set up a "charging station" every other day now. haha.

I started with a 901, when they first became available. Then I got a 510 to see if it was different. Then I upgraded to a Tornado. Thinking I might try one of the custom built ones next. They just sort of pile up over time.

I'll admit its nice to have a few extras laying around. Occasionally a friend will ask to try it, and I just set them up with their own PV to use for an evening.

I bought a Envy from a local smoke shop - it sucked; but it got me going on vaping.

Did research on ECF and decided on a 510 Mega atty and mega batteries because the standard 510 battery life stinks and I didnt want to be refilling carts through the day.

3 weeks later; turns out I'm still refilling carts throughout the day and 2 or 3 batteries through the day, and the 510 mega atty/battery combo is way too long and falls out of pockets all the time.

Just bought a Ego 900Mah battery w/ the "Type B" 2.5 ml cylinder carts, biggest cart I could find w/ a atty/batt combo that is relatively short compared to my 510 mega combo.

I started off with a 901, but didn't take long for me to buy a black eGo kit and a usb battery. I figured I'd keep the 901 for testing new juices. I haven't touched the 901 since the eGo arrived, but it's purple so I'm keeping it. I can't really explain why, but for now, it is safely tucked away in the tackle box. I saw the post from Midwestvapors selling eGo kits for $40 shipped, so I am going to grab two to squirrel away, just in case the government decides to ruin a good thing. And I just ordered 5 more attys, so now I can devote my vaping funds to finding the perfect juice. Which I don't think I ever will since my favorite keeps changing...atomic cinnacide.....fire & ice....bear claw....can't wait to see what's next!

I have a perfect example, my PV of choice is the buzz. It broke last night. Not to say anything bad of it, EVERYTHING stops working at some point, nothing lasts forever and I LOVE my buzz. It go me through months without an analog and it is on its way to be repaired at no cost, but, if I didnt have a second PV I would have no choice but to fall back to analogs and after 96 days smoke free, I do not want to do that. More than one PV is must.

I started with the Joye 510 then received an eCig at work, then bought another eCig, and lately received one as a gift..

The 510 is just different, it was the first eCig I ever touched in my life.. That first hit was like magic, that's why it's very special to me ;)

The one I bought is "Top Electronic Cigarette", it has a nice finish and a red LED and it's the smoothest PV I have with a really easy pull..

The other two are generic non-branded which are not too bad either..

It's actually nice to have a little collection and try different PVs, I now pick my eCig based on what I'm smoking (prefilled carts of dripping liquid) and also based on "where" I'm going to smoke :)

If its on a plane, I'll use one of my "cigarette" looking auto atty PV..

If it's a family gathering I use my black 510

Etc, etc..

Personal Vaporizers are indeed very personal :)
