I mean, as a man of science I usually prefer not to deal in absolutes, so is it possible, sure, but do I think it's likely, no. It's a particular molecular compound. Whether it's extracted whole from a vat of fruit pulp using chemical reactions in one lab facility, or assembled from constituent molecules using other, different chemical reactions in another lab down the street, in the end it's the same set of atoms arranged in the same fashion. If it were something different, it wouldn't be called "diacetyl," it would be called whatever the name is we use for the molecular compound made from that particular set of atoms arranged in whatever fashion. Now if you want to talk about by-products, or impurities, or contaminants left over from the extraction and/or synthesis operations or what-not, then that's a different story, but if we're talking about the actual diacetyl molecule itself, then no, I don't think it matters what its source is.could diacetyl as a manufacturing additive be unhealthy while naturally occurring diacetyl is somehow different? Is that something people could be missing?
Saving this for the next time. I also pointed out a few studies like the ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS,! Good Lord you think that alone would shut them down.Let's see if I remember correctly. A handful of workers in a singular microwave-popcorn processing facility contracted a certain respiratory disease which causes irreversible scarring of the lung tissue. The air in the plant was tested and found to contain higher levels of a certain compound (diacetyl) than similar facilities, and so it was decided, without further study, that correlation equals causation, and that diacetyl was "associated with" and therefore suddenly responsible for and "a cause of" said condition. The disease, known as bronchiolitis obliterans, came to be known as "popcorn lung" or "popcorn-worker's lung". One consumer also contracted the disease, after preparing a popcorn packet, while standing next to the microwave, "inhaling and enjoying the aroma" as it popped, every night, for decades, and was subsequently awarded a large monetary sum. Since that time, most if not all microwave popcorn and e-liquid manufacturers, have ceased using diacetyl as an additive in their products. It is, however, a naturally-occurring substance, and may be present in trace amounts in some of the other ingredients which are still used, but even so, nobody has ever contracted popcorn lung from an e-cigarette.
Lung curry, lung soup, deep fried lungs, stirr fry lungs. Lol I've eaten some weird stuff. Growing up when we would butcher livestock little went to waste.
And what about all those 16 year old kids working part time at the refreshments counter in movie theaters dealing with all that popcorn? Isn't this all about saving the children?
Yep Did that! But logic escapes people when they think they know all.Whenever someone mentions popcorn lung, just mention that the culprit is at least 100x higher in tobacco smoke than vapor and then ask them how many smokers they've EVER heard of in their lifetime who contracted popcorn lung. That usually shuts them up.
