well today I broke my last 3/32 ceramic wick ( 6 in two weeks :( ) anyway I had no choice and build a ss wick . this is the first one in my new cobra , I started off with ceramics so I don't have any experience with mesh . so I rolled the mesh with a very small hole in the center and handed wrapped the coil with 32 wire . I ended up with a 1.3 ohm set up with no hot spots the first try :) and after a tank of sweet tart from ecblend im starting to see why a lot of people are saying that ceramics arnt there yet . I cant tell a diffence between the two and ceramics are way to fragile at 3/32, and im not willing to drill my new cobra . so until the white ceramic from Germany becomes avalible , and if its a lot less fragile , im sticking with mesh

Actually, built my first row ceramic wicks yesterday and today and I've been really impressed so far. I still really like the ss mesh but at the moment, I'm seriously impressed with the ceramic.

Not much of a decisive vote, I know, but I haven't used the ceramic enough to give it my full enforcement. It's just making a very good first impression

unfornatly you had to use the 3/32 ceramic wicks first because of the atty you have. if you had an atty that had a 1/8 wick hole and started out using the 1/8 ceramic wicks, i think i wouldnt be writing this now, for i think the good would out weigh the bad, and then after using the 1/8 ceramic wicks and getting used to wrapping them tight, and then moving to the 3/32 wicks i believe you would of had the experience to go forward, but starting out with the 3/32 off the bat is tough, and they do take a certain touch, and thats why i think they are discontinuing the 3/32 wicks to be replaced by a 7/64 size. with all new things there is a learning curve, some will like it some wont. it is funny to see how different results can be with ceramics. i have seen some that can break every wick they buy, then i have seen some that absolutly love them and swear that they never will go back to ss mesh wicks, so far most are the latter, they definatly are not for everyone, but this is what keeps this wheel turning for better and better products, if everyone was satisfied with all the same things it would never get better

I agree with you the 1/8 sounds like the way to go , the 3/32 is just to weak .
but from reading on other forums , the german company that is developing the white ceramic , currently being tested by a lady in Germany I think will be the next step in ceramics . even the 3/32 is very strong and she said she has no prob putting pressure on it without breaking .
the rumor is that they are close to going into production :) i'll post a link later , its in german , for anyone who can read german and wants to follow it
