Thanks for the advice everyone. I think my best bet is going to be to go to my local vape shop and try some things out. I'll admit I do want something fancy looking (the more glowy the better lol).

One big concern I have with that however has been that I have a firm belief that salesmen will tell you what you want to hear, or try to get you to spend more money than you should. The other big concern being all the lingo thrown around. I've watched some video's on youtube about coil making, which to me seems rather easy, but then again the people doing it have more experience with it so they make it look easy.

I'm sure I will visit the store, but I plan on coming back online to confer with all of you before making a purchase.

Yes; a common thing that seems to happen is you walk in and you end up walking out with an rda and a mech mod which are the simplest thing you can get but they talk it up and charge a crazy price and on top of that they build a crazy subohm coil for you.

You'd be well served to check in back here first before putting down the cash.

Ewww Salems. I mean, no offense. We like what we like and I was always a Camel Blue smoker and it's all subjective and horses for courses but EWWW SALEMS. :p
Sorry.

Moving on.

Yes, skip the cig-a-likes. Total waste a time for someone who smokes as much as you. The suggestion for you to go with variable voltage is good.

The reason you shouldn't start with a rebuildable is because most of them are set up for dripping. And while dripping can be wonderful, it's a lot of work. For on the go, you need a nice hefty clearo that can hold lots of juice.

You can attach a subtank to a mod of course but I think an Ego or a Vision Spinner with an Aspire Nautilus or a Kanger Aero would be the best bet. For your battery, you want something between 1100 and 1600 mah.

Yeah the Aerotank holds 2.5ml. Nunchaku is 2000 mAh and Stylish is 1300 mAh.

The Aerotank + Stylish 1300 mAH VV cost £35($55) and the Aerotank + Nunchaku 2000 mAh VW cost £40($65).

I am 31 and smoked the same amount as you, I smoked Marlboro lights, started with v2 cigalikes which was ok for a week or two as they got me almost completely off the cigs. I then got ego twists and evods which were better, then I picked up an istick 20w and nautilus mini. That's what I'm running today. I wish I would have came on here and asked for suggestions as I would have saved some cash!! I've spent over $600 in six weeks on vaping gear/tanks ect. lol thank god my wife is the breadwinner and doesn't give me any hassle!! I think once you find a juice you like it makes it a lot easier, I was searching for a malboro juice taste which you will find is impossible due to the taste of burning tobacco can't be duplicated in e juice. I found uncle junks job Wayne e juice 12mg nic at my local b&m and haven't looked back. Going on 6 weeks stink free, welcome aboard, I can't remember the last time I felt this good!!

I'd recommend getting one of the iSticks, either 30w+ as well as one of the new tanks. I've heard a lot of good things about the Kanger Subtank and the Delta 2. Both can use factory coils or be rebuilt once you get the hang of things. I'd pick up the iStick, one of those tanks, a 10ft usb charger from eBay, and an igo-w RDA with some Kanthal while you're on eBay. That should all be under your budget and give you a lot of good options for starting out.

So, to begin with I'll tell yall a bit about myself. I'm, 26, and a chain smoker. I smoke about 2 packs a day if not more, and have been doing so for roughly 10 years now. I started out on Salem Black Label menthol's, moved to Newports, then to Marlboro red, and now I smoke Special Blend Golds 100's. The reason I am telling you all this is to help you understand my level of nicotine intake, and my needs as a smoker.

My ultimate goal here is to quit smoking real cigs, I just can't stand the way it makes my lungs feel anymore, and can't stand all the dust clogging up my computer.

I am hoping that all of you can suggest to me a good first vape to start off with. I'm not sure exactly what I want or need, but I would prefer something that will satiate my need to puff frequently, but also last a good long while between needing to be serviced.

For me, the act of smoking isn't just about the nicotine, it's the whole experience, the cloud of smoke, the act of puffing every now and again, and I just need something that satisfies that ADHD induced craving to constantly be doing something with my hands, even while I'm doing other things.

From what I've learned from talking to other vapers, I think I may want a rebuildable, simply because they sound cheaper to maintain, but I'm not 100% sure on that. So can anyone give me some recommendations on what they think I need or should purchase? My total price limit is $175.

I was a compulsive smoker for over 20 years. Some days as much as two packs. I've only quit for two weeks but I can tell you some decent gear and juice flavors you like can make you forget all about cigarettes.

Whatever you get, your budget is high enough to get some nice gear and I encourage you to do so. Skip the cheap entry level stuff. It's not satisfying and could lead you right back to smoking.

The more experienced posters here could tell you better than me what you ought to get but I'm using a 30 watt istick and Aspire Nautilus tank right now. It's so good, I had to step down to 12mg nicotene because I am always puffing on it.

My personal advice if I were you would be an MVP or iStick battery, a Kanger Aerotank giant or mega and 18mg nicotine. I was a heavy Marlboro smoker myself and vaping, there were/are things that can almost drive me back to a cig. Dead or low batteries, weak juice and coil issues. Go with something like this and you can focus on not smoking at first and not have to worry about maintenance.

I bounced between smoking and vaping for a couple years until I found a setup that worked for me. The iStick 30w and Nautilus is it. I would buy the 30w iStick, two nautilus mini's and a pack of BVC(make sure they're for the nautilus) coils. If you shop carefully you should be able to find all this for under $100.
