Hi all,

It seems to me, that the best way to find out how to maximize atomizers' working life is to have a sufficient number of experienced vapers answer a comprehensive questionnaire, so that useful correlations can be made. Atomizers may become very dear, if a ban goes through. :(

IMPORTANT: PLEASE, no banter or discussion on this thread - only answers to the survey questions. Instead, post all discussion and observations on the "Discussion of Comprehensive Atomizer Life Span Survey" thread.

*Only experienced vapers (more than 3 months) should answer this survey; others (including myself) have not vaped long enough to have had much in the way of atomizer failure, except through neophyte errors.

*Also, if you use two or more types of e cigs (e.g. the 510 and 901), only answer for the one you use the most.

Thanks to Sun Vaporer for his valuable input, and to all who participate in this survey.

Comprehensive Atomizer Life Span Survey:

A-1 *How long have you been vaping?

A-2 *How many weeks, approximately, do your atomizers last? (note: do not count your first few weeks of vaping into this, while you were still learning the ropes.)

*Hardware Questions:

B-1 *What model e cig do you use? (note: if 901 or 801, etc., specify whether it is RN or SLB brand.) How long, too, have you been using this model?

B-2 *Do you use the standard battery? Is it a manual or automatic? Or, do you use a battery mod? If you use a mod, specify type and voltage. Or... do you use a passthrough?

B-3 *How many atomizers do you generally have in service at a time?

B-4 *If your battery has a cleaning cycle feature, are you very quick to unscrew the battery, or do you let the cleaning cycle proceed?

B-5 *When you retire an atomizer, is it because it has gone cold; has unresolvable nasty taste; or, because it has poor vapor production, but is still somewhat functional?

B-6 *Do you make a determined effort to revive atomizers, or do you retire them after making only a modest effort when problems arise?

-Cart Questions:

C-1 *Do you use the standard cart material, or do you use something else? Or do you drip exclusively? Please specify.

C-2 *How often do you change or clean your cart material? Do you change it because of poor taste or poor wicking, or do you change it regularly before there is any kind of trouble?

--Vaping Habits:

D-1 *Do you take short to medium vapes, usually. Or, do you usually take the largest vapes possible for maximum vapor production?

D-2 *In daily use, do you often vape until the outside of the atomizer is hot? Or, are you careful to not allow them to get more than warm, usually?

D-3 *Are you careful to always keep the atomizer moist, or do you usually wait for a significant decrease in vapor or faint bad taste before topping off or dripping?

--Juice Questions:

E-1 *How many mls of juice do you use per day?

E-2 *What brand and flavor of juice do you use?

E-3 *Do you add flavor(s) to your juice? If so, what flavor(s)? Are they Loranns' brand or another?

E-4 *Do you use commercial VG or PG based juice? If you dilute your juice, do you use PG or VG or both? What ratio(s) of VG/PG to the commercial juice do you use? Do you use any other additives like grain alcohol or distilled water? If so, about how much?

E-5 *What nicotine strength of juice (after all dilutions/additions) do you usually use?

E-6 *Would you describe the juice you use as: thin (like standard PG juice); medium (like a mix of PG and VG); thick (somewhat thinned VG); or very thick (like pure, or almost pure VG)?

--Maintenance Questions:

F-1 *Do you do any preventive maintenance (that is, before any problems arise)? Examples: letting atomizers drip out overnight, doing dry burns, etc.? Please specify.

F-2 *When you get a burnt taste or significant decrease in vapor output, what means have you found most effective to get rid of the problem(s)?

--Change in Life Span of Atomizers Noted Over Time?

G-1 *Have you noted changes in atomizer life span due to some change you made? If so, what seems to have helped/hurt?
