The following link alerts us to the Cornflicker C worm which will activate on infected computers on April 1st. The article advises that you check your computer to see if you got MS updates in March. If you did not get any updates, then in the article there is a sub-link that you need to click on to obtain more information and/or remedy/fix.

SambucaLu, I didn't register. I just clicked the sublink to be able to cut and paste it here. If I'm registered, it must have been stored cookies from something else that I did back in August when I factory restored my computer.

I will, however, be scanning the computer sometime after Friday and befor April 1st.

Since it's Microsoft, I believe it should be free. They got a big reward out to catch the author(s) of this worm.

Sorry, I couldn't be more help.

Thanks. If you could let us know if you have to pay, and how much, that would be great. I just really hate all those links that say "free scan" then try to charge you somewhere along the line.

Linux pffft here we have 1000 XPSssses behind an industrial strength radiation hardened RAD6000 FreeBSD firewall capable of operating in outer space complete with a failsafe intelligent watchdog and VxWorks based fully automatic anti fallover recovery system all powered from a LiIon battery and solar arrays!!

Nah we have a boring old PC running Windows hehe! Guess I better keep getting them updates tho my Linksys does run DDWRT!

Maybe an easier way to protect yourself and systems would be to just download malwarebytes and get the latest update.

I do not trust them since about 2001, when the Klez.H worm took control of all xp desktops at my company, despite of the most recent xp and NAV updates.
I just did not believe it, so I installed and updated a clean xp system, then exposed it to Klez.H. It got infected immediately again. NAV warned of the worm, but the worm was faster to take control of the system, and killed NAV. Only the BSD servers and my linux desktop were unaffected. Ever since, I use those where I can. Those systems provided about 7x8 working years without any virus incident.
