Confused: Ego-C Twist battery faulty or atomizer base?

I'm fairly new to vaping, having only bought my e-cigarette about a month ago. All was going well until a few minutes ago. I have an ego-c twist, if anyone could help me - I think the battery is not working, but am not sure.

Basically, it was working fine. I use the plastic cartridges and a cone. About an hour ago I refilled the cartridge, put it back in, then pressed the battery's button. Nothing. None of the sound you normally get, and no vapour. Bear with me on my description below, there's a point to it...

So I swapped to a new atomizer head. Nothing. I cleaned all connections from possible leakages. Nothing. I tried a recently bought new battery. Still nothing. Very occasionally there'd be the burning noise from the atomizer head, but pretty faintly. Panicked a bit, as I don't want to go back to smoking even for a day and have no other e-cig in the house. Then realised I had a couple of clearomizers which came with the original kit I bought. I screwed the battery I normally use into one and it worked. But then a few presses later, it stopped working. So now I am using the recently bought battery on a second clearomizer. This works okay. However I then re-tried the original set up I was using - the cartridges with the original battery and it is delivering some power to the atomizer head and producing quite a lot of vapour, but the power doesn't seem as much. The same crackling noise from the atomizer isn't there, only a faint noise.

Basically I'm confused. Is it possible that the battery is dying, or could it have burned out the clearomizer (i.e. when it worked on the clearo for a few goes, but then stopped working). Also, for a while I thought that the atomizer base was not working, but I suppose that wouldn't really happen - maybe, I don't know! I need an expert to advise me here!

I've noticed over recent days that the cone wasn't getting as hot as it used to while vaping. Maybe it is the battery - but I've only had it a month, but pretty heavy usage.

If anyone can give me any advice I'll know what I need to re-order. Please help! Thanks.

Welcome to ECF. Having a hard time understanding which delivery devices you're using

Different delivery systems:- note bolded Atty, Carto, etc is the abbreviated form

Atomizer/ Atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped- usually used for testing new juices because Attys are easy to clean. There are some diehard Atty users because it’s the best vape possible but very time consuming.

Cartridge/ Cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the Atty- juice drips on to Atty from filled cart and is vaporized- older outdated first “tank” system and prone to leaks unless the user is willing to buy extra seals and “fiddle” with them.

Cartomizer/ Carto- metal tube with stuffing and element. Holds anywhere form 1- 4 ml of juice. Carto is fully saturated and must be occasionally refilled when juice runs out. My Cartos last 1-2 weeks. Best Cartomizer I’ve found is the Smok Tech XL 1.7 single coil. Boge 2.0 ohm cartos will give a cooler vape. Always use single coil cartos with 3.3- 3.7 PVs for the best vape.

Carto+Tank- a Carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates Carto by way of hole in Carto. My Cartos with a tank last, before tight draw occurs: light juices- 80-90 ml. dark juices- 50-60 ml.

Clearomizer (includes the CE4 Stardust and the Vivi Nova Tank)- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing. The rebuildable clearos come with heads (coil+ wick) that can be cheaply and easily replaced. When the head burns out simply unscrew the old head out and screw in new head- takes 10 secs. My Vivi Nova heads are lasting about 4 weeks BUT I wash the heads every few days. I've found the Vivi Nova to give the best draw.

That slides inside the short cone (which is just a casing really), which contains the replaceable atomizer head and the base which hold it; then all of that is screwed onto the battery, thus completing the whole e-cigarette.
That was the arrangement I was using when it stopped working.
It was only then, to try desperately to get some vapour into my lungs, that I dug out my clearomizers (which have the wick,and built-in atomizer).

I hope that makes more sense, in relation to my original post.

Thank you. The atomizers need regular cleaning. It could also be the post on the atty and/ or the clearomizer has been pushed up thus a poor connection with the battery.
You're sure the battery is turned on (5 quick clicks off and reverse for on).
Next make sure your voltage is at the right setting.
Make sure no juice on battery.
If that doesn't work try gently pulling the center post on the clearo out just a touch so it can make a better connection with the battery.

With your help, and also thinking through the logic of what worked and what didn't when I was trying carts and clearos with different batteries, etc. - I think I may have determined what is faulty. It's the atomizer head. I think the clearo not working was just chance - and I will give the post on the non-working clearo a gentle tug out, when I get access to some pliers.
And the spare atomizer head doesn't work either, it's a faulty one, of all the luck.

Being new to e-cigs/vaping when I got the kit, I only ordered one spare atomizer head - as I didn't really know how long they last, and in fact forgot they only last a certain time, before needing cleaning or replacing. The current one is still just working with the ego-c twist turned up to full voltage. Should last a few day, I hope.

That's the thing about being new to vaping - it all seems quite confusing - before buying my starter kit I had to research on the web for a good few days to know what was what - different models of e-cig, what bits you need, what's compatible with this or that, e-liquid strengths, auto or manual batteries advantages/disadvantages, etc. I think that puts off a few cigarette smokers, they just don't know or have the time to find out the best thing for them, or what to order and when, in order to keep their e-cigarette operational, so to speak. Some websites in the UK explain a bit, but not really enough. People could do with a really good article or even short book on the ins and outs of vaping. I know there are lots of youtube clips which are very helpful, but still it can be confusing.

You're welcome and yeah it is complicated/. I spent over 200 solid hrs researching before I chose a PV. Another 150 hrs while it was en route and at that time there were a lot less choices. I always strongly suggest vapers purchase a digital multi tester- can be bought for about $10-$15 and takes much of the guesswork out some issues/ problems we encounter. I now test ALL cartos, attys, clearos, etc to make sure their working properly before using them. There is that rare possibility of the battery being damaged by shorts, etc.

P.S the multi tester is one of those tools that's not used a lot but is a necessity when required.
Having been in construction my wife knows more than most guyz about diff projects and tools. She's a hands- on type of gal and has used all sorts of tools. Occasionally she'll see something in my workshop and ask what it is. I'll give a brief explanation but it isn't until I need to use that rarely used tool on a home project that she truly appreciates the usefulness of that particular tool.
