Welcome to ECF!!

It depends. 24mg is a good place to start if you smoked a pack of regular cigarettes a day. You'll know if it's too high for you, some people get dizzy or nauseous. The guide is:

24mg for regular cigarettes
18mg for light cigarettes
12mg for ultra-light cigarettes

Really it depends on the person. It's best to overdo the nic level at the beginning so you won't be tempted to go back to cigarettes.

sound's familiar. I smoked about that much and locals said 18 mg. so i vaped till a "nic out" happen, by the way not fun. but i learned that as a smoker you are very hooked on other thing's in cig's and that some one starting new and with the hopes of being a ex smoker like me. so got some 12mg vaped hard to deal with what only lasted about 3 days without a "nic n out". now I all-day vape 12mg out of a tank setup. To keep it fun/hobby I have a 1300 vv with a rebuildable driping set up. learning to through coils and wicks and such. all the wonderful flavor.

Hello RW and welcome.

There are no rules when it comes to how much nicotine you'll need during your transition--we are all different and have different nicotine tolerances. I started with 12 mg/ml and it worked for me just fine. I also always have a bottle of unflavored nicotine base (36 mg/ml) on hand--in case 12 mg is not enough.

My suggestion is to get at least two different strengths (of the same juice); 12 and 18 or 12 and 24; you can vape your 12 mg all day and add some of the 24 mg if you have a particularly strong craving, on first thing in the morning, and so on.

You'll figure out how much your body needs in no time.

Good luck!

'Niccing out' for me involves a headache. Drink a lot of water, it really helps. I started with 1.8% and am now thinking of lowering to 1.0%. I am, without question, a chain vaper but am liking lowering my nicotine level. A lot of it is the 'hand to mouth' addiction that you will hear about. Good luck and have fun!

I used to smoke a pack and a half of Marlboro reds a day. When I started vaping I used 18mg juice but I also bought a couple of flavors in 24mg strength. The reason I did this is so that when I had a particularly strong craving I could switch to the 24mg and it would knock it out quickly.
If the nicotine level is too high you will know. You will probably get headaches and generally feel yucky. The amount of nicotine will vary from person to person because it depends on how your body absorbs it. Even if two people smoked the same amount and the same kind of analogs does not necessarily mean that they need the same mg of nic in their e-liquid.
Good Luck!!!
