Hi, I've been a member here for many years, but mostly a lurker. I bought Mt. Baker juices in Max VG forever, until they stopped shipping. PG gives me heavy lungs. My husband also vapes.

So I started ordering from Velvet Cloud, Max VG. I get hives every day that I vape. Their flavors are too strong. They also closed down, btw. I tried plain Max VG from a local shop, still got hives.

Me and my husband both had physicals this month and our blood pressure was sky high. So we stopped vaping and it went down to normal a week later.

Can I make my own plain Max VG juice? We use 6mg. Are the supplies still available to buy and ship? Thanks so much!

And if you are trying to extract flavors from tobaccos, you would need to understand extracting using heated ethanol. Mix 190 proof Organic Ethyl Alcohol with VG (50/50 mix) and heat for 12 to 24 hours at NO MORE THAN 160ºF (ethyl alcohol flashes at 170ºF), allow to cool and then steep in a dark, cool place for a month. Then filtration must be preformed properly. More on the subject here;

No, it doesn't need to be tobacco flavored. I have no problem with just plain juice due to the hive problem. I don't know what's in the flavor that's giving me hives and high blood pressure.

Then you just need to get 100mg VG-based nicotine base and cut it with VG. Try NicBase.com. People seem to be reporting best experiences with them over others and they happen to be the cheapest right now. This calculator also might be helpful if you want to stock up because there is no telling how long these nic sellers will be around.

Nic base is your biggest urgency right now. Get it now and worry about VG and flavors later.

It is probably the nicotine that is giving you the high blood pressure. That's one of it's known effects. You could vape pure VG cut with some distilled water to make it thin enough to vape. Or try DIY flavors one brand at a time to see if a particular brand doesn't give you hives. There are lots of places to get VG. Amazon has it. There's also Hempetix (used to be Heartland), and a lot of others.

Just in case it helps while you figure out DIY, Velvet Vapors has PG free eliquids, many using organic ingredients. They also have flavorless organic vg nic base at up to 36 mg.

Lots of health issues there. I'm wondering if vape flavorings are the only culprits in the hives, or if something in your daily diet could be the problem, especially if you vaped unflavored and still got them.

    Take care of yourself.

Thanks, everyone, this is helpful. We're doing another test today - no vaping, only the gum, and testing blood pressure. It may be the nic, not the juice raising it.

It's for sure the nicotine.. It's been studied. However - it should not be a huge change - less than 10% for sure.

EFFECT OF ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE SMOKING ON BLOOD PRESSURE IN ... : Journal of Hypertension

    "
    Results:
EC vaping was accompanied by significant increase blood pressure, which lasted about 30 minutes (average 28 ± 11 minutes). Compared to placebo the EC smoking increased systolic BP by 9,6 ± 4,1 mmHg, diastolic BP by 7.1 ± 3.9 mmHg and heart rate by 16,4 ± 13 beat per minute. All the differences resulted statistically significant (Student's t test P < 0.05)."

Thanks. It's odd that our blood pressure has been normal all these years of vaping, but didn't go up until we switched from Mt. Baker to Velvet Cloud. The only difference is VC's juice has A LOT more flavoring. The gum is synthetic nicotine, I think? VC just sent me an email saying they will start blending juice with synthetic, because it's not regulated.

We've gone back to just the gum, our BP went down to normal.

Gum, if you can stick to it is obviously preferable to vaping. If you can quit nicotine using it completely, that's even better. Good luck! If you can't bear it then you may want to DIY. I did 6 months ago and it's better in every way and WAY easier than I thought it'd be.

My blood pressure was always good until I got the second shot, just something to think about. Blurry vision in my right eye too, I'm sure that wasn't from vaping.

Lol, I've been on the gum for over 20 years AND vape. I use the gum when I can't vape.

Sorry to hear that! I didn't get vaccinated, I had an anaphylactic reaction to a previous tetanus vaccine, so my doc recommended I not get it. I did get covid, but it was nothing. My fever lasted exactly an hour and a half and I coughed for a couple weeks. I hope you're better soon!

Better be careful before THEY (not ECF) come for you for spreading "misinformation" about covid vaccines even if you are telling your real life experience.

    Only partially kidding with that.

As for DIY, I did it for years and worked my way down to zero nik. You'll save a ton of money too.

    Good luck friend.

I don't know what's in the flavor that's giving me hives and high blood pressure.
    That's hard to isolate.

For **me** I found that some VG's gave me hives! So you may wish to watch out for that too. Not all VGs are created equal.
Some are extracts from coconut or something, and others are from other sources. The "cheap stuff" that I got from a vendor a decade ago seemed to be the culprit. YMMV.

And since flavorings are so variable (they're all different molecules), some may be OK for you, others not. Again, YMMV.

Some here have suggested skin testing various ingredients to see if they cause a rash. But IDK how accurate that is.

As for BP, there's a lot of variables as I'm sure you know, including hydration level, the amount of salt in your system at the time, your kidney function in filtering it all out, and then there's the nic and allergic reaction, and, and, and....again YMMV. Nicotine IS a vascular constrictor and does up BP.

    All :2c: and IIUC.
