Considering DIY Need advice

I'm thinking about trying the DIY route but I'm unsure of what to buy and what quantities to get.

I have a sweet tooth so any sweet flavor is good & I would think a single flavor for a mix would be best to start with
I've spent some time looking at the e-juicemeup calculator and I'm wondering if it's the best thing to use for a beginner?
From what I make of it I have to input the % of flavoring I want, except IDK what % I want soooo..... LMAO

If I want to make say, 100 ml of juice at 70pg/30vg 18mg. How much pg/vg, nic do I need purchase to finish up with all pg/vg & nic supplies gone.

Is it better to get the pg with the nic & 0 vg or should the vg also have some nic?

You probably need your nic in whichever you are going to have most of in your mix (vg or pg). If you are making an 80% pg mix, having pg based nic will be much easier. You will also need pg with no nic to get to your 18mg level.

I have a number of vendor juices that I'm very happy with but I would like to try DIY to see if I like it & if I think it's worth the effort against the costs. So if I like doing it & the flavor is good then I can order more supplies, & if I'm unhappy with my results then I'm not out that much.

From reading I know that I can get 48, 36 or 24 pg, I usually buy a 70pg/30vg mix but I'm ok with 60/40 or 50/50 if that helps with the amounts of pg/vg that I need to get it to 18mg. I could also drop to a 12mg nic mix.

I won't pretend I understand where the OP is coming from, but I can answer one of the questions.

If you are shooting for something like 70/30 then get your nic in PG.

Have no nic PG and VG on hand for dillution along with the flavorings.

I have been doing diy since I started about 1 year, its easy to start with single flavor juice and get used to it then you can graduate to multi flavor if you wish. lots to learn make small batches low flavor and add to taste! Get a higher nicotine like 36 mg get some vg and pg and flavorings ,use and ejucie calculator to help with measurements to get you to 18 mg or whatever your going to use.lots of good vendors to get all your supplies I will list a couple

I agree Hoosier. LOL I didn't know how to go about answering his questions so I avoided doing it.

What I suggest is that you read many of the threads in this forum and get a better idea of what DIY is all about. Especially read the DIY Guide in the above stickies. Then after reading come back and ask the questions you still have. You may be able to narrow it down a bit and come up with winning DIYs, but you have to give it a far chance and learn. You can't just take one persons advise and have it work for you. Good luck and we'll be here for you once you get the information you need.

You might want to read my latest blog, "What Else Do I Need?"

It has the typical DIY mixer's mindset overview in the first section. We love to help, but we have a mindset that is different than many vapers.

You can order small bottles, but getting the exact quantities you need to make one bottle is going to be impossible.

Also consider... if your first batch is not great, that doesn't mean you can't do it. There is a bit of learning, and a bit of tweaking required to get the perfect vape.

Start small. Mix 1-3 mls, test it, add more if you think it needs more. Go slowly though with adding, things will change as they steep. Advice from Hoosier that is around here somewhere, if it tastes close walk away and let it steep. It may be perfect when you come back to it. Then when you are sure you have a juice that you like, then you can make a larger batch using the same percentages.

Hey Cardslinger, this IS a great place for the unknowing to ask questions. Don't get discouraged right out of the gate, diy will take a strong disposition. Questions about specific elements of diy will bring many more replies. There are a lot of variables in diy that can effect the outcome/answers. Download an e-juice calculator and play around with it. Get familliar with how it works and how to manipulate %'s.

I agree with all the advice here so far. Especially tidegirl's point about mixing small batches initially. I wouldn't expect to just mix up 100ml and be done. Most likely, you're going to try your first batch and find that it needs some adjustment. For sweets I'd recommend starting with Capella's. Every Capella's flavor that I've tried has been easy to work with, and has turned out good. I like the Chocolate Fudge Brownie on its own.
I've made some recipes using TFA and FA that I'm quite happy with, but they are more complicated, and took a fair amount of trial and error to get them right.

Ok...your post didn't make sense to me either at first, but I thought back (not that long ago) and I think I figured out what you want.

You can buy unflavored juice. I know a lot of vendors sell it, and I'm sure if you look around you'll have no trouble finding it.
This is basically like the flavored juices you buy with nic, pg/vg premixed with NO flavor.
For a first timer who doesn't want to start out mixing right away (just getting your toes wet right?) I would suggest Capellas flavoring. Especially since you said you have a sweet tooth. These flavors are pretty 'easy', and you can get by with just one and get a pretty darned good juice!
