I need to start off by saying this community is one of the best I’ve seen. There are so many helpful people with a lot of valuable information. I have gathered a lot of information in a short period of time. I started off with a spinner/twist starter kit about 3 weeks ago due to some advice I came across on here and don’t regret the purchase one bit. I have tried the Iclear16 (I believe it’s called) and EVOD Clearomizers, I’m currently using 4 EVODs. I would like to invest in something as simple to use as the evod but more consistent.

I thought about maybe moving up to an APV but I’m not positive this will provide the difference I’m looking for. Also thought about tank-carto, but that may be more work than I want to deal with right now after reading about it.

I’m looking for a setup that will give me a good, consistent vaping experience.

Been looking into glass tanks also, might just go with the pro tank just because it’s similar to the EVOD, but any input would be appreciated.

Thank you for any help!

Yes this is a great community.
Rules are followed and people will help you if you ask for the help correctly.

About your question, what exactly about the EVOD is not consistent. I am a huge fan of the EVOD myself and have been them since they came out. I use mine with the coild from the PT (protank) and it is my ultimate vape at my eVic's sweetspot.

I started out with an eGo Twist with Evods. It was a good setup, but I like to see my juice so I switched to T3s. About a week or so ago I switched to an eVic with ProTank and HOLY SCHNIKEY the difference is amazing. Not only do I get nice flavor and huge clouds of vapor every time but it just looks awesome.

Over the next few months (or years) you will probably try lots of different things. So enjoy the ride, it's a good one.

Most of these devices *can* provide a consistent vape, but a guy has to learn how to make them consistent. (and that's the fun part IMO)

Very well put. It is a journey of exploration. So much about the vaping experience is subjective and so there is only so much you can glean from words before you have to see for yourself.

If you ask me I say enjoy your eGos while you decide because after you "go mod" they will become irrelevant to you. Taking the next step is going to be an investment. If you go cheap to begin you'll just end up replacing stuff with better stuff later.

5 months into it and my search is over. "Just get a REO" feels sort of compulsory for me because it is hands down the best overall vape experience I've had. For me, the REO is peerless.

Regardless if you go mech or regulated I'm gonna say learn how to build coils. Get an IGO-L (or IGO-W), it's cheap and super easy to build. Dripping is, in my experience, the best vape. Get a few feet of a variety of gauges of resistance wire (26,28,30 and 32 are most common). For wick there are many options, there is no one best for all applications. I like cotton in my bottom fed atty and nextel ceramic rope in my top fed drippers.

If you're going regulated on a budget it's almost standard procedure to start with a VAMO, lol. They do just about everything you could want from a vv/vw and they are also super cheap.

If you're going regulated and want to jump a little deeper then you can't go wrong to start off with a ProVari. They are not perfect but are very well built and if you don't like it you might lose $10 reselling it. If you want cutting edge regulated keep an eye out for DNA20 devices.

If you're going mechanical you will need a multimeter and a serious awareness of what you are doing, what your equipment is capable of, how it will react under all possible circumstances, how you should react when something goes wrong, how to measure resistance and voltage, etc. Mechanical vaping is fun, the hardware is cool and reliable and simple. Mechanical vaping can also be very dangerous if done improperly.

If you're going mechanical on a budget there are lots of options, just spend some time in the apv section :) K-100/K-101 have a good rep for performance. There are lots of Sigelei mods that perform well, are cheap and readily available.

If you are going mechanical and want to cut out several months of searching for a great vape and spending money on stuff you'll end up setting aside then I'll say just about the same about the REO as I did about the ProVari (aside from the part where I had my ProVari for about a week whereas my REO is here to stay ;)). They are very well built and resell very easily. The REO Grand is relatively compact (about the size of a business card), accommodates 18650's (easily lasts me a workday), holds 6ml of juice, delivers the freshness of drip vaping without the hassle of carrying a bottle of juice around and having to drip into your atty. The IGO rebuildable drippers I recommended above are not compatable with a REO, fyi.

Don't skimp on batteries and charger, don't waste money on kits with cheap batteries and chargers. For batteries you can;t go wrong with AW IMR, MNKE and Orbtronics are a couple others that have good rep. For chargers.. well just check out RTDVapor.com inventory. I have a Nitecore (four thumbs up) and I've read good things about the Pila.

As far as non rebuildables go, evod is pretty high end, unless you want to try the protank(it does use the same replaceable coils). You might get a better vape/taste with the added range of voltage a vamo or other comparable cheap mod offers. If you are going to try mechanicals i would suggest a genesis style atomizer, if you dont want to fiddle with dripping.

That being said, as far as taste and quality of my vape goes, i prefer dripping.

For consistent performance, I tend to use a Mini Vivi Nova on whatever battery is lying around or suits my need.

I have other stuff, sure....but most of it gets left at home in the box. A carto in a tank seems pretty good to me, but they can take some guess work at first with making the holes the right number and size.

I don't find evods very consistent. Protank is better....but I'm not 100% keen on the vape.

Everybody is different.

First of all, ANY clearomizer you get is going to take some effort to get it vape right all the time. This is true of virtually ANY juice delivery device. Whatever is causing the inconsistency, can easily be overcome, with a minimum of effort, which, in time, will become so second nature, as to cause you to understand that they are, in fact, "consistent." It's like saying a clearo doesn't leak. If they have the potential to leak, they leak, at least occasionally. I use evods as my primary out and about topper, because you get a great vape in a very small form factor. The Protank uses the same head as the evod, but is a different vape because of the differences in air flow. All of these things can be managed. My evods get a bit "uppity" every other day as I use a very flavorful, dark, sweet, thick juice. I like my juice. Gives the coils a headache. I clean, rebuild, and change my heads frequently. Sure, I can get them to last a month, or I can just repair/replace them every other day and get the vape I want. Costs me a dime to recoil, or 90 cents to replace. That's only $3.00 per week to replace if I want that "perfect" evod vape. I use pipe cleaners for when they flood...without thinking about it. I hear the gurgle, I clean, or blow out through the connection...without thinking. I prefer bottom coils, others prefer top coils.

No matter where you go, you're going to have to learn to clean, clear, repair and take care of your gear. Watch some videos. Read about the easy fixes here. The minimum amount of time that you end up taking to keep the gear vaping GREAT for you, pays off. It just hasn't become second nature to you. It will. Give it a try. If the evod is inconsistent, the Protank will be as well. Live, learn, love to vape, and enjoy being analog free. My two cents. Good luck, Power Up and Vape On!

I've been vaping for awhile and have used many different systems. Between cartomizers and clearomizers, clearso by far reguire more maintenance and are the least consistent. Not that you can't make them work well (if you like an airy draw - which many don't) but it takes more effort than a tank cartomizer.

A glass tank with a good cartomizer works day in and day out for 7 - 14 days without needing to do anything other than add more eliquid once a day if using a 5ml tank. I've found them to be very consistent and without the light, airy draw of many clearos.

Atomizers (see Reo) still have the best flavor and hit. But you do have to clean them often.

A good variable watt (VW) model PV will provide better consistency over an eGo type VV model PV.

Good Luck

Thank you all for the replies. I have had some problems with burnt or flavorless draws, I feel like I have to replace the atty every few days when my first impression was that these would last at the very least a week with no problems. Had few instances where the EVOD would work on my Spinner but not my Twist, after replacing the atty it worked again. Thought maybe it had to do with the pin on the battery or atty but messing with both didn’t fix the atty, any clue what could cause this? I have no issue with upkeep but I just feel like there has to be something with better quality that doesn’t require rebuilding/replacing attys every few days. If this is what most do to get that consistent vape then I will have to learn to love it lol. I feel that I will need a mod to get what I’m looking for and I think mechanical will be to advanced for me. I am going to start doing some heavy research in regulated mods. Just from browsing the past month I get the feel that the the evic and provari are top of the line for regulated?

I really like the thought of being able to go 7-14 days without tinkering with anything by using a tank-carto. Guess I might have to re-think that also lol… so much to learn.

Going to do this for sure, hear a lot of good things about dripping and I am starting to realize I will HAVE to learn to rebuild to get the best experience.

Thank you all again for the help.

3 months ago I started with V2 minis with pre-filled cartos. As I write this I'm blowing clouds with my Igo-w on my K100. Everyone (myself included) wants to find that perfect set-up with as little up front costs as possible right off the bat. It's all about experimentation and, as I pointed out to the boss (wife), even though I now have a very large box of vaping supplies (half of which will never be used again) I still only spent a fraction of what I would have spent if I still smoked. I use cartos, clearos, gennys and drippers. I would say get you one of everything and have fun! Vaping more about the journey for me and part of the fun has been that there is always a new road to wander down. One thing I would say that has been my experience is that while I've used and enjoyed high end VV/VW as well as mechs, I'm definitely Team Cheap Mod. My Vamo (VV/VW), K-100 and Sentinel (Mechs) TOGETHER costs less then a Pro-Vari. Those REO's do be calling to me though..............................................:p

Somewhere out there
How long the coil head and wick last depends in large part on what type of e-liquid you are using. I've had some sweet bakery flavors gunk up a coil in a few hours. I stick to lighter, clearer liquids now. Or I use the really sweet ones in a rebuildable atty that's easy to clean & dry burn or re-build. Rinsing the evod head every time you refill may help a bit. I rarely have to swap out a clearo head.

I like trying new devices generally, but I stayed away from carto tanks for a long time because they looked so hard to refill. I finally did get one and it's not that bad. Still not my favorite, but manageable.
