So my husband has smoked for over 20 years. Between my asthma and my many allergies, the smoke is extremely irritating.

So first I made the mistake of getting an ecig from Smoking Everywhere. i won't get into how much I want to kick myself for that one. After much reading, I decided to start him anew with the Nebula from Vapornine.

Well, I don't know if it's just the newness of it all or the juice composition. He says that every time he vapes, he gets a sore throat--this happened with the first ecig too. Almost every drag makes him cough. I'm considering becoming an ejuice kitchen witch, but I don't know if custom juice is necessary yet. I don't want him to be forever in discomfort and I don't think I can stand anymore smoke without turning into a dragon. :(

He said it takes the edge off, but doesn't stop the cravings. He's using 16mg juice and would normally smoke a pack a day. He's not vaping as much as he would smoke though because his throat is so irritated. So I don't think the nic content is really off. I just need to find out what's making his throat sore. Honestly, I expected much more vapor than we're seeing, so I'm thinking the VG content of the juice is low but the PG high? Maybe if I bought juice with higher nic content and diluted it with VG, it might be better. Am I wrong to come to this conclusion?

Personally the only time i get a cough or pain is from most vanilla flavors.

There are people allergic to PG though and this sounds like what it may be.

try a VG based juice and see if its better.( not a mix try just VG)

The fact that he still uses it even tho the problems means once you get a good juice(or figure out the issue) he should quit the analogs with "some" ease

My 2 cents, take it as you will.
First, I think its great that he is trying this for you. One of my concerns is that, with any addiction, a person needs to want to break the addiction for themselves. "The path to hell is paved with good intentions", and all that.

Forget 16 mg juice. Get your hands on the strongest nic content you can. I was doing straight 36 mg and THAT takes the edge off the craving. There is always time to cut back on the nicotine level after the vaping habit is established.

I'm always drinking something to keep my throat moist and soothed, for me its not a big deal. My wife complains about the throat soreness after one hit and so she is still smoking. I keep gently offering her hits of new juices and e-cigs to encourage her to keep trying.

Best of luck to both of you. Life without cigarettes is really great and I never thought I'd be able to do it. E-cigs made it easy.

Vaping dries the throat. Drink plenty while vaping.

Vaping will not stop all craving. There are other things in smoke that are addictive. Vaping will take the edge of, and there will be other signs of withdrawal, but nothing is totally easy. Vaping is the easiest way to get off analogs, and he'll just have to tough it out with the other symptoms, which aren't a fraction as bad as going cold turkey.

Thank you for all the responses. I'll have a look around and see what I can come up with for him.

The second ecig was barely affordable after the first flop...so not sure when we can try another. Is there any way we can keep working with the Nebula? Maybe some way I can rinse the carts and refill them? They're not nearly as foolproof as the Smoking Everywhere cart... I'll probably see if I can find a video.
