I will probably repurpose a spent 45acp casing and use a delrin blank for the shaft to replace the stock plastic button. Thanks for the heads-up on that.
That's a great idea.I have 2 of these mods now,and adding a 3rd this week,so i have been trying to think of different button options for in case 1 does break,or even just to change one of them up a bit,but i never even thought of something like you mentioned.

When I get the mod and get around to fabbing a replacement button, I'll be sure to let you know.

Sounds good, definitely keep me in mind. After you posted that,i had to go and look at how the button is installed, because just thinking on it,i couldn't figure out how a piece of delrin would stay without just coming through the hole. After looking at it,there is a spacer/washer type deal, then the positive leaf, and a screw,so shouldn't be a problem securing it.The only thing i haven't looked at yet is how the lock works on the button, but i haven't pulled it apart,so not sure if it has that little nub that sticks off the button or not,but if it dows, that should be easy to fab as well.

The new model of copper vape has a different button. Unfortunately its not backward compatible due to the needed hole size.

Here is the new vs old serena showed me. Ky button snapped on the brass and in hadn't changed the torq on it. So be careful over tightening. I didn't even do that. The new button stops it from happening.

I also proposed she sell a hardware kit on fast tech which she will be doing. It will include everything from the top but just one peek insulator and will run $3-5 i believe.

The new style button should also help with crunchy feeling and locking.

Backward compatible?

What's the question? Theres a rev b product coming. With s new button. Which won't be backwards compatible with rev a due to necessary hole size in the metal

Future buys should include the new style button which should help things a fair bit.

I have two new versions coming. I can provide feedback on the differences. .

Informative, thanks. From what I see here, it will just be a matter of drilling out the old mod to accept the new button. Not for everyone, but a simple retrofit. I'll probably get a few of the new buttons when they become available.

Sorry. Only 1/3 of your post was visible when I posted. Dunno what happened. Anyway, yeah, I can see the difference. I'll wait to get the CV in hand before engineering a new button. I just don't care for the power symbol, either lol.

Just to be clear i suggested every piece if hardware be made available for the hardware kit. She stated she would probsbky have to do one insulator. Fwiw i think peek is the most expensive part of this. It will include the feeder nozzle and the metal bar too. Everything you'd need but only one insulator disc

All these parts in a hardware kit for $5 or less will be good. I wouldnt wait. Usually rubs if extras for mods are done and gone. So get one kr three when they're released as they likely will run out and not be offered again.

Im not sure what the process is to drill
Out An oval, i know i don't have the tools
Or ability to do it . Maybe if someone here can they could offer a service - ill have ti see how much better the new button style is but my guess is it will fire much better.

Are any of you using button top batteries and if so what brand ?

I ended up doing this to mine.....

I used a nylon screw as a spacer then I added a contact from a high power relay, it could do with being slightly longer so the contact hits dead centre on the top of the battery.

It hits much more consistently, no button crunch.

Most of the other mech squonkers use a similar method.

Coppervape would only need to supply the replacement positive spring and a nylon screw of the correct thickness..............

just got the aluminum version yesterday. it is SO much lighter than the brass. i'm going to keep the brass at home and use the silver on the go. love these mods.

That was the same thought i had.I got them both at the same time, and after checking them both out, decided the brass will definitely stay at home, both for the weight, and the fact that the brass looks a bit nicer,so i want to keep it looking good and not get it scratched up.

Question Please
I have a Reo now but may get one of these too
On the Reo if you get a short the spring will collapse
What will happen with this?
Thanks

You will end up with a hard short........ Mod won't fire and battery will get hot. I am trying to work out a way of putting in some protection, as I am not comfortable running the mod away from home the way it is currently set up. I know lots of people do run unprotected mechs all the time but I prefer not to on the whole.

I think you would be in trouble, Larry. There is no weak link to act like a fuse.

The 2 sections are, however, held together magnetically so the coppervape will vent easily. Unless the problem is caused by a torn battery wrap, this magnetic junction can also be used to disconnect
a short quickly.

This is a nice squonker. I think you'd like it.
